Do you think Steemit will take over Facebook?

I have to say no, for a couple of reasons. (and agree with a couple of the other answers)
1. Steemit is a completely different type of platform from Facebook. Steemit would be more like a blogger, medium or reddit. There are a couple startups out there that are aiming for FB such as https://sociall.io but I can’t get into the beta to check it out. Someone might think about creating an FB style platform on the steem blockchain, but it would require massive amounts of storage. Then you would have to develop a full-blown mobile app as well. Facebook has really turned into more of a Content management platform for the average person and businesses.
2. Facebook is huge 2Billion+ users with enough power and money that governments are worried about them affecting politics. Zuckerberg is smart as well. He has seen the revolution already and is developing their own blockchain for FB. Nobody really knows how that is going to work but one of his top people are in charge of the project. Not to mention if there was competition they were worried about, they would either try to buy it or they would crush it. Altruistically neither should be able to happen, but given enough time and money, you can accomplish just about anything.
3. FB has a huge head start. People are in general apathetic and we tend to be lazy. They want their social to be easy and fluid, which most of the Steem based applications I have seen including Steemit are not quite there yet for the general public. Not to mention Mobile would be required and they want it from the company itself.
4. Then factor in that the Crypto markets are still not user friendly/developed enough for the average user. If you look at a typing point/adoption curve model, I think the crypto market is still in the early adopter’s stage but it’s getting close to hitting the uptick for the early majority.

This is just my #2cents you can take it or leave it.
