Steemit Meetup Recap

in steemit •  6 years ago

Last night was our first Raleigh Steemit Meetup. What we lacked in attendance, we made up for in conversation. We had @ashe-oro and @thescubageek join us from @steemsmarter. We had a great conversation about ways that Steemit can be improved. @steemsmarter is working on some exciting projects. One project examines tagging and how to better (more accurately) tag your posts. We also discussed ways to monetize the website, conduct analytics and create communities. @florio live streamed the conversation on dlive:

We were also joined by @deanlogic and @artibeus as well as members of the steemsmarter team.

There were several dozen views of the dlive feed, so it appears that maybe we had a bit more attendance than just those who showed up in person. I guess it would have been smart to set up a system for accepting questions from viewers while were having the discussion (although @florio was probably monitoring the comments section).

Overall, it was an interesting conversation. I am excited about the potential, be it Steemit 2.0, new wrappers with additional features running in concert with the steemit platform or drawing out the potential already baked in to the current steemit platform. There are a lot of great ideas and I hope to see them (sooner rather than later). We all know the website is imperfect, as unique as it is.

We finished with an agreement to find a meetup group that we may be able to leverage for future meetups and possible recruits to the platform. My final take-away is this...if you get a chance to host or attend a meetup, do it. It is nice to meet with fellow hobbyists and talk face-to-face. Particularly when the discussion centers on ways to improve the interface and features at Steemit.

Thank you to Cryptolina for providing us the meeting space (and some drink tickets and discount attendance) for this gathering.
