What I find great and not so great about Steemit

Steemit is a still relatively new platform, full of potential and opportunities, my experience so far has been great to say the least, but it's not perfect.

Being a new community, we have the chance to improve it, make it great, grow and become a staple of the internet new era, Steemit has all the key components to become the next internet titan, it's an always growing community, great people, excellent content, and the reward system is amazing, there are no censorship and with the addition of Dtube, we can diversify the type of content and content creators.

Big sites like Youtube had a great start, that's why they've become what they are today, but with all the censorship that's been striking and the demonetization, many Youtubers who use it as their only source of income have been forced to seek for other alternatives, I've watched many videos recently, many Youtubers being blacklisted, being tagged as "non advertise friendly", this is discouraging for many new Youtubers and frightening for old Youtubers, many people put valuable content, important opinion, and news just to be shut down for what it seems to be an arbitrary algorithm, that does not serve the viewer but big corporations, what one day was a great platform for everybody to share their thoughts and opinions is now just another advertising platform for big corporations to impose their opinion and what they deem "appropriate" I hope more people join Dtube and we can get quality videos with high production value and zero censorship.

I've read great articles here, people are really eager to share their honest thoughts, the reward system that's being implemented seems to favor the publishers and not a shady corporation whose only interest is to keep certain image, but that seems to be the root of the problem, the system is flawed, bots are flooding the site, people are trying to make a quick buck, which is hurting real creators and publishers, there's spam all over the place and the upvote bots seems to have taken over the place, many great articles don't get the exposure they deserve, and poorly written posts get more upvotes than actual views, this make hard for new members to grow, since they are more exposed to bots than actual senior members and their content.

Steemit is a great place, a growing community where people share honest thoughts and opinions, and are capable of civilized discussion, i hope more filters are apply and one day we can enjoy a community free of spam and bots, this is the time to create more quality content and stop the spam wave that's poisoning our site.

Best Regards.

Sort Order:

zero censorship is never a good idea, finding porn videos does not make sense on any social site, dtube will prosper with more controlled censorship

You're totally right, what i meant was, no censorship with opinions and thoughts.

Welcome to Steem @cooled I have upvoted and sent you a tip

Hey everyone!
I'm professional analyst who works on managing content of a platform with free posting system. I can tell you how difficult this task is. And it becomes even more challenging if your platform is non-profit when you don't create money from your content.
So my vision of steemit future is a couple of commercial or semi-commersioal platforms on top of steem blockchain with complicated and powerful content managing system each competing for user's views.
Someday I'll write a full post about it.

Cheers!

Looking forward to read about it.

Nice! Your account was recently created so I wanted to personally welcome you. Here's your upvote and know that the steemit community awaits!
As you only recently joined the steemit community it can be hard to recieve lots of steem power so I suggest you to try out @MinnowPowerUp as you can earn up to 30% more steem power than just powering up with steem directly! It's a subscription based daily upvote bot that draws its power from a delegation pool. I have also made this post where I explain my experience with the service in more depth and show how I earn over $1 a day in upvotes.
