Hi Steemit Friends!
A huge part of what makes Steemit so great is the authentic sense of community. There is a lot of emphasis on building relationships, connecting with those who share similar interests and investing in one another.
The other day I got to thinking about how we usually build friendships in our regular, non-steemit lives. :) There are usually two main ways that we make friendships as an adult.
Through similar activities or interests. Maybe you are both part of a running group, a book club, or a yoga class.
Through Mutual Friends.
I think we as a community are great at building connections around similar interests...but what about introducing mutual friends? Maybe you run across someone's post and it really makes you think of another steemit user. Maybe they have similar styles, senses of humor, interests, or values. Why not mention that to them? Maybe they have already found that steemian...but if not, I bet they would appreciate finding someone new to connect with!
This is something I try to think about, especially when meeting new users. It's great to introduce them to people who I think they would connect with.
Please listen to my Dtube Vlog for more of my thoughts on this subject. I'd love to hear your feedback! Is this something that you currently do, or think would be helpful?
Ps... if you ever have a steemian friend you think i'd connect with.. please introduce us! I love meeting new people. <3

I think you are absolutely right. Many of my new adds I've found by what they've commented on a common user's post...but your idea takes it a step further, and even more personal!

So, I watched this video last night and it kind of stayed in the back of my mind all day. I've been busy with the kiddos so haven't been on much until now and here I am responding to some comments and then felt the need to share your video because I thought it made sense in the response I was giving. I was talking about how other social media sites have trained us to respond to most everything we read. When the 'Like' button lost its value, they made up new emoticons, Love, Hate, Sad, Wow, almost like printing up money and pumping it into the system. What do those little clicks really mean? Does it take more effort to click 'Love' than 'Like'? And do we really care about those people if we're not willing to leave an actual comment as opposed to just clicking a button? When you spoke of connections made via shared hobbies or interests, and then via friends, it just stayed with me. That is what makes this platform stand out as opposed to others. Most people are here to co-create and truly establish meaningful connection! By the way, thanks for the tip about the ukelele tabs. My daughter spent half the day on the uke! :-)

But sometimes you connect just to the person you don’t know, but you like their way of thinking!

Yes you're very right with this! Many users face single direction, but yours is quite distanced from em all. One of the quality you had that gained my attention and interest is UNIQUENESS. thanks for this drop

Yeah, agree with it, we should take some time go through and get to know everyone in deep, not just comment such like "please follow me". Since we not just only building relationships with each others, we also connecting with every talented Steemian and get to make some new friends in the community as well!

Definitely a great thought! I also think that's why Discord communities and things of that nature are such a popular hangout spot for Steemians. I'm a moderator on the 'Steemit Local Music Society' Discord if you or any musicians you know have any interest in joining! I'll leave the join link here: https://discord.gg/zku8RFM
Hopefully soon we will see some features that will make linking people together easier too. Even a function to find your '@' mentions would be huge - there are some extensions that advertise doing so but I haven't actually gotten them to work.
But anyways, great post/video, thank you!

Actually, I think it is a good idea. Like you said earlier, it is not enough just upvoting and commenting on each others post. It will almost seem like it is all about the money. I think like every other community we can think of, it will do us a lot of good finding that person that shares the same interest with us and this can be definitely achieved through recommendation, resteeming and active participation.
Steemit community should be a community where people learn, enhance their abilities, build on their talents, creates wonderful memories and get to know each other, help each other. Thanks for the suggestion and I hope with time I will find those that we have things in common or people pointing them in my direction vice-versa. In case I find any for you, will definitely lead them right to you.
Lastly, your blog is wonderful and you have a great voice. Such a talent!

Nice video, I like the positive attitude, and I welcome new friends as much online as in the real world, so it is at the very least positive thinking.
As people start to view and interact with each other's media here, it would be great to see D.Tube become what we all wished YouTube was, a pleasant environment to interact with fellow creators and interesting people, while enjoying good content.

Nice initiative @coruscate
I've been here since 15 days now. I've made lots of friends. But i want more people who can motivate me, inspire me and teach me new things. As well as i can show my writing and my art or my talent to other steemians. This initiative will help all of us to bind some new friendship bonds and everyone love to make some new friends.
So, here I am - Mayur Rajput (Geek Phoenix) from India. Would you like to friendship with me?

Hey there @coruscate!
I'm not sure how I've missed your blog after being on Steemit for a while, but I'm glad I stumbled upon it through the suggested videos on DTube!
I've really enjoyed taking a look through all of your blogs, vlogs, and song covers. It's great to see you doing so well with them!
I decided to comment on this post because it's something that I've become very passionate about. Introducing people. I think many people who join Steemit are just after the rewards, and they miss out on the community aspect.
I don't know if you're involved with any groups on Discord or Steemit.chat, but I have the privilege of leading a Discord group called The STEEM Engine. We're just a group of Steemians who are all about connecting with each other's posts and supporting our members' posts via our group account @thesteemengine. We'd love to see you over at the STEEM Engine, so if you're interested, here's some more information.
If you're interested, we'd love to have you. Your content is brilliant. We have a lot of people who would share interests with you on the music side of things, especially @topkpop, who has her own radio show every Friday night!
Anyhow, keep up the good work with your song covers and vlogs. It's great to see you taking advantage of DTube as a way to earn from your videos! I recently started podcasting using DSound, which has been a great adventure! I'm looking forward to seeing more fantastic content from you!

Relationships in live is what makes it living it. if Cryptos and social media like steemit can make people with talents, interests and passions meet in real life that would be great!
Nice idea to introduce or suggest people based on some tags in a blog post so that your follower can cherry pick people to follow. Although for that to work in that way, you have to be followed.
Another way would be to use real strong connection where you recommend someone directly to someone else because you know them a lot and know it could be great for them.
