I have been using steemvoter for a long time as a way to curate (see Monthly Curation), auto-upvote blogs I like and give something back the ones who support me with auto-upvotes.
The upvotes somehow were not processed by steemvoter these past couple days, so I decided to give @steemauto a try. I checked it out in the past but their website and terminology was just way too confusing. (I did not see the link between fanbase and auto-upvotes until @beat-the-bookies mentioned it to me on Discord.)
Anyway, today I finally was forced to check it out and switched over to this platform which seems to be an improvement. One of the big issues with steemvoter is the fact that they will upvote every single post from people on your list which makes it very vulnerable when someone would increase their amount of posts all of a sudden which happened a lot draining my voting power. Steemauto allows to set a maximum amount of daily votes and the voting to be paused in case voting power go below a specified percentage.
I'm still tweaking everything and will be looking to optimise voting percentages by the time next months Sports Betting Curation will be posted...
Steemvoter is ok for me, but I have the year subscription. As you say though, need to keep an eye out for folks upping their output and reducing quality.
I still try to do all my upvotes manually. I know silly me!
But it is good that you found something which work better for you! And it is great to ready that the tip came from the community 😁

This is actually what I really love about Steemauto(aside from being free). It also rarely have issues about votes going through. I used steemvoter before and like you've said, sometimes the votes go through and sometimes it does not.
I'm a one a day guy, and with posting too :D
