Project Full Time Steemian Chatroom.

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

I have had an idea running past me for the past few days, about setting up a room as a single point of contact, for all Steemians who are working fullt ime on the platform.

Why am I doing this?

More and more steemians are joining the platform and announcing that they are going to work full time on the platform. This is an amazing thing it shows what a wonderful thing steemit is. Not only is it a platform for providing great content but also for earning a living, to some people it's life changing.

The proposal.

I thought about this long and hard, I was at first thinking of setting up a discord group, for people who are now able to work full time on the platform would have a central point, where they could be in communication with each if they needed support.
It would also be a hub to share ideas regarding content, provide advice and support to those that ask for it, when writing posts, making videos, or music etc.

It can be lonely working solely which is why communication is important, for someone who is working self employed, they don't have an annual Christmas office party to go to for example.
They might also have financial issues or they may be in debt, and they do not know who to turn to and want to speak to people in confidence about it.

My proposal is to seek permission from a larger server like PAL, Peace abundance and Liberty to have a room which will be locked and be by invite only.
This will stop people being able to enter the room and just simply post a link and leave. At the same time, the room will not also be for people just to share a link and leave. Full Time Steemians will know this anyway.

The room would need to have at least two moderators, to monitor the room and make sure that the servers rules and room rules are being upheld.
This for now would be one room where we can simply chat, exchange information, then if subsequent rooms are needed or if we are growing quickly then we could then look at a server, but I don't want to just open a server for the sake of it.

I think it better to tread the water.

Does this require delegation?

Absolutely not no delegation is needed this is just a chat room, there will not be any need for any sort of bot or project. Any projects being ran will be amongst yourselves and would need to seek delegation from other sources, but this would not be connected to the chat room.

So in order for me to put forward a good enough reason I need 10 Full Time Steemians who would be prepared to back my proposal so I can submit an open post to @aggroed and present evidence that such a room would be needed.

But there are plenty of servers, where information can be exchanged wouldn't this be a bit isolated?

That is a good point also, the object of the room is not to isolate anyone but more.
for people that are working on the platform full time to talk to each other, they understand what it is like. Sometimes you can be on a platform chat and shout Hello but you get no reply.
Sometimes you don't want to talk publicly if you have tax problems, or you you need specific business advice.
I don't claim to be the know all and end all of business, this is equally as much of a leaning curve as it may be for others.

If you feel that there is a need for such a room please comment below the post, and if we get ten people to back this I will prepare a post with an open letter about this.

I cannot guarantee it will happen but its a positive move which means we are still in communication with the platform but we are able to support each other also.

Thank you for reading this.

Edit.

When considering upvoting this post I appreciate it but really I don't want upvotes I want support, you would be better to leave me a comment with your thoughts which I would appreciate more than an upvote.

Your post sounds like a good idea. I’m not full time, but I’m wondering exactly how you would define that. I certainly am working at making Steemit a legit side job, and that will require a relative commitment of time and energy to achieve. Maybe you could open up “full time” to something more open ended. I’m coming up short on a word or phrase, but I’m thinking that anyone who uses Steemit to generate a significant income (a very relative term) might be interested.

I know what you mean... its a difficult one because full time for one person is different to another but it is the best way to define it for now I would say, If we said it was for people who wanted to make steemit a full time job then everyone would be joining which would be great but defeats the purpose. What I would say is if you think you are working enough on steemit to a large portion of it your income then consider it as a full time position.... part time hours full time wages ;).

I think a room/channel of full time Steemians would be great! As you said they can share their experiences, problems, concerns, etc with people like them who work 24/7 on Steem. ;) I support this project!

Thank you @chrispop here is hoping to hear from 8 more of interested parties.

Ooo I like this idea! I can't wait to hear more about it!

Well there are no guarantees but if we can get ten people to back the project then I can approach aggroed with a proposal.

i say build it and start ya own tribe -- you got me, beth and you so far. that's a movement. let's go! :) hahaha.

Ok you are on yes ok so there is you, beth, I two others expressed an interest thats five we need five more. What do I do now?? How do I get the message far and wide, this is good drink more wine.

drink wine and do what i'm doing. set a precedent of what you want to happen. you need ten people, tell people in a video what you want to happen, how you see it, how a day to day would look like, why they should join, what they get from it, what you can give to it, what motivated you to come up with the idea and be AUTHENTIC about it --- keep asking, then you win. simple.

remember data doubles every 72 hrs on the internet so if someone is frustrated or annoyed about it in 3 days someone will have already moved on, remember this is a statement from what you want from the universe. so clearly define it and ask for it ;)

A video yes good idea I will put a video out there.

everyone has a discord. it's a world of discords. niche groups. people wanting to be the cool kids. i'm LIKE in millions of em, including my own. i'm overloaded by it. but i get you and i respect the need to vocalize with other people. props for that.

Thank you for your words appreciated.

the needs of the one are the need of the many - 'spock' (or something like that) i'm drinking wine so i have no idea. i know i'm typing and the words seem to look ok so go with that ;)

I think I am getting what you are saying lol.

fire. crack on then brother! :)

Great to hear the subject, I've already got the chatroom stuff covered. =\ I've not publicly released my project, but it's easily found if one were to pay attention to my posts and/or profile to figure out where my project is located. Kinda already took the idea and implemented it accordingly with the option for the creation of sub-rooms and all that jazz. Plus it's hooked up to an AI that moderates it.

No special software needed or anything, just a web browser. I've not released my project yet but those on the LGBTQ discord server you and are in are welcome to check it out and see if it floats their boat.

Did you prefer something like discord or telegram or anything in special in particular?

I think this is a great idea. I'm part of an online business group, and it makes me want to ask more questions because I feel a bit more comfortable and safer. I also have the answer to some questions, and I learn how to word answers better.

Gday mate My beautiful wife @insideoutlet and I where tallying up some of the sbd relating to our Fck cancer posts and I just wanted to thank you again for the donation it is greatly appreciated.

We would love it if you would come and join our new little discord community. @asapers https://discord.gg/dQ32qG

You are more than welcome cancer has affected a few of my family and friends so I am all for finding a cure, thank you for the invite I would be more than happy to join. :)

You don't need anyone to let you do this unless you are wanting to make it on someone elses discord server.

Make your own, gather the community.

Not so sure about a server yet.... but it is an option in the future.

It is a good idea, full time job, different departments will then be set up, whilst everyone has their post , amongst members will still be others helping the members check out or edit their post before posting as the aim is no longer trial and error as it is for someone but it is now an all success thing, A JOB

You are right... I said in a post when I go to work I work so in essence I treat steemit like a job now. I have done a further update about it on todays post.

very good article, is that this would be a good idea for the person who needs advice.

Thank you so much for that.
