So, quite a few people have "resteemed" some of my posts, and I am grateful. The question however is "does it really help all that much?" I suppose if someone is up to level 74 the impact on resteeming would be much greater (more subscribers to give a thumbs up). I'm still not to sure about the resteeming initiative. For instance on one of my posts 2 people resteemed my article and the paid out was only another few cents. My advice... Make some friends on Steemit with very high levels. More opportunity to get more votes up. Good Luck.
Another question I have, does it count against you when you resteem a lot of posts? Tell me your thoughts and stories about resteeming.
Life is Good, take hold and go for it.
I used to do almost no re-steeming. My main goal is for people visiting my blog to read what I write, not what other people write.
However, I've been doing more re-steeming lately. Some articles are just too good not to share with my followers. When I re-steem a good article, it helps my followers who otherwise may not have seen it.
It also helps reward the author. If my followers see and vote for the article, the value goes up. Re-steeming is a kindness, particularly to minnows.
😄😇😄

@twinner recently resteemed one of my posts and it made a big difference. Established steemers who are selective with resteems are probably the key.

@crowe , resteem❤ is sharing works of others to your followers if you wanna support their work. I do it when i see creative posts which are still undervalued. While curators often upvote and resteem posts to increase the payout so that it would earn them a handsome curation reward..

Ah, that is where curation rewards come from. I see. Thanks.
Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

that makes sense. but how much does really a curator get the share?
Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
Submit
Depends on the SP the curator has.. The more voting power the curator has during voting and voting weightage he uses the more he earns curation reward if the post goes really well.. I've seen curators (whales and dolphins) earning more than 2k sp in a week just by curating posts.

isn' t it a win2 solution for dolphin and whales, they help others to get better payment, and they get more SP in return?
but of course on a good post.

@ekavieka They are helping the minnows a lot. It's because of them ,most of the time minnows get what they expect from a post to their satisfaction.. Hahaha. Win2 situation is because most of them have invested in SP, so curation reward for them is like interest of that SP. So, I'm never jealous lol

Resteeming can make a difference, mostly for the original poster. A resteem reaches a new (at least partly) group of followers, so the post is wider and longer visible. For the resteemer it gains not all that much, from my experience.
I dont mind if people resteem, if its done from honest interest. Only if I see people who resteem lots of high upvote posts, because they think they can participate on the high payout, I find it a little cheap.

When you resteem, you are putting that article on the wall of all your followers. So new people see the article with more possible upvotes. If more people upvote, the payout pie gets bigger, therefore, your slice of the pie becomes larger. Hope that helps.

Resteeming is important to me because I want to spread messages about health and endangered species to name but two. I want articles to reach a wide as possible audience so I am very happy to be resteemed. I do understand that many steemers are motivated by payments and for them I don't think resteeming makes a great difference.

As a relative newbie I try not resteem as I want people to see my post instead of scrolling through other people's post first. Since I have very little traffic anyway resteeming articles does not benefit the post being resteemed.
However if I was a whale with hundreds of followers then resteeming will have a huge impact on the post. My followers will likely upvote the post because they will have similar taste as I.

I think resteeming does not hurt - but I have had similar experiences where resteemed posts receive limited attention.
I personally resteem some posts, perhaps 5 per cent of my submissions and mostly those that I really think highly of or posts that are supporting a charitable cause.
However, if a user is resteeming more than 3 a day, i consider unsubscribing. While it is sometimes useful - it is overused in my view. People want to hear from authors, not necessarily a resteem. Otherwise our feeds get spammed with content we did not subscribe to.

I think it does help to keep the content fresh and near the top of the newly listed posts. Also, if I find a post that I think is useful and UNDERVALUED, I want to share that post so my followers can earn a little too. Maybe lets try Re-Steeming this post often, and see the effect. I'm sure some of my followers might agree and do the same. Thanks @jbcoin

The way I see it is that steemit is a distributed courtroom and resteeming is the way of presenting evidence. It should really only be used to support ones own case and not just be a redirection to another author.

I believe resteeming is a good thing, it allows content that someone liked to have a potential wider audience which in turn could, (no guarantee that it will) allow for a larger reward to the author and the curator too.
If more see your work then statistically at least some may upvote it... Is this not good?

I see the "real" resteem as an appreciation of the author's work. Is my way of saying: I think is a great post, I took something valuable from it and I believe the other can do this also.
I see it as a recommendation and even if I don't know how much effect has on the earning side for sure there is a chance that at least one extra person will read it. This is good enough for me:)

On one hand, I think resteeming does increase visibility. As I understand it, if I resteem a post that was published six hours ago, it appears as "new" in my followers' feeds.
That said... it also seems that a LOT of people are only interested in original content. They are less likely to click on a resteem than someone's original post. I also know that when I check out someone's profile and see that almost everything there is resteems rather than THEIR content, I'll most likely pass on following them. So I would use it pretty sparingly.
The only exception might be resteems that are helping a newcomer with their "introduce yourself" post.

Those that resteem are curators. It does help because every restreem can result in a follow or additional interest in your account. In addition, those that resteem have ability to act as a curator which can potentially earn steem. There are stories of accounts which engage actively resteeming top posts. If you have people resteeming your posts it's a great thing to have going for you on Steemit!
