Steemit an Alternative for Facebook?

After learning that Facebook had a new algorithm that decides who gets to see my post and who doesn’t via artificial intelligence, I began looking for an alternative to Facebook. After all the AI that everyone is so psyched about is only as intelligent as the programmer or at least will have the political bent of the programmer(s). Totally legal censorship as Facebook is a private company and is not bound by the US Constitution which forbids Government from censorship. But the idea of having a 20 something kid who probably has never set foot inside of a church, never been in a fight and who basically has a problem with critical thinking determine the validity of my opinion is unacceptable to me. Especially after watching the Tom Hanks movie, The Circle. Super Creepy if you ask me.

Facebook has made it very easy to for advertisers to target and optimize their audience within Facebook. It is what they do, they are an advertising company that provides free social media as a platform for others to sell things to us. After the 2016 elections they even became so arrogant that they believe or at least are following through with the unproven claims that Russians influenced the election through Facebook. Yeah Right! Get over yourselves.

This arrogance is one of two things. They believe that Americans or at least the American users of Facebook are really that dumb. Or they think that everyone is really that dumb, and through no fault of their own can’t help themselves for being “that dumb”.

Before you go ballistic, think of this, It was once said that a Professional Baseball Player is nothing more that a Beer Salesman. Putting it in that perspective, you will see that they are really and advertising company that needs eyeballs so they provide a social media platform.

Lately however, people seem to be turning away or maybe the bloom is off the Rose.. Tired of their news feed begging them to click here or there. The unending stream of notifications. Several times already I have heard the younger kids scoff at Facebook saying that is for old people. They are flocking to other social media platforms built around community, focused around content or topic.

Enter Steemit. Community and content are the cornerstone of Steemit. The ads are not blazing across your screen and content providers are paid by the content readers. Comments are welcome and you can send the provider some Steem.

Steem is the cyber currency of Steemit, or is it the other way around. It is on the Blockchain and you will receive a key when you sign up. This key is similar to your password with one major difference. If you lose it, there is no way of recovering it just like your blockchain wallets so keep it safe.
