As @SpiritualMax waves goodbye to his armada, the ships raise anchor with all of the brave souls who will colonize the New World.
The ships carry the colonists, supplies, tools and soldiers, as the challenge will be beaten no matter the cost.

The colonists breathe in the fresh air and prepare to take their first steps into this brave New World!
Game Start: The Rules!
The game is pretty simple.
Each colonist has his/hers own colony. At first, it is lackluster of course, but with time they'll develop into profitable hubs of trade, commerce, industry, or even war.
The turns are weekly and they are made of 4 distinct phases:
- Resource Phase;
- Colony Phase;
- Action Phase;
- Diplomacy Phase;
In each of these phases, you'll have different actions available depending on what you have at your disposal that turn (that week).
At any time, a user can state that he wants his colony to be inactive so it is paused in its current state. This is useful if the colonist doesn't want to play or wish to pause his colony suffering no risks.
His steem and sbd income are safe.

Is there any more information about what this stuff does? It's hard to make a decision about what to do otherwise.
What do you get for hiring the different types of workers? If I hire some now do i keep them forever and can hire more next week? Do they require upkeep?
What buildings are available to build and what do they do and what resources do they cost to build?
Regarding the quests - if I embark on one how do i know if i will complete it or not? Is it just chance based? Is there anything I can do to improve the chances?
Do you get any benefits in the game for upvoting these posts? If not I would like to suggest that :-)

The beauty of exploration is that you never know what you're going to find... this is an old school RPG type game, where you learn as you go, plus I was never a fan of people who check the wikias for their games to go better :P
On the other hand, the second question is pertinent. Yes, workers are permanent!!
The buildings and their costs unlock as you get the right things for them... For starters, nobody has enough wood to build a basic shelter still, but when they hit 10 wood they will be unlocked for that person.
The quests have different modifiers and so a lot of the outcome depends on what you take or dont for a quest, BUT a certain random factor as well.
For instances, do you want to search for natives without an escort?
As far as the benefits for upvoting these posts, good idea, so far the total income from the posts is distributed towards the participants, even @defor who died of scurvy.

I'm all for learning as you go - but we need some information. For example you say:
Can we at least know what buildings are available, what they do, and how much they cost? A big part of these games is having goals and planning but if we have literally no information then we will just have to do things randomly and hope it happens to work out.
Should i get 20 lumberjacks or 1 farmer? I have no idea.
I didn't know you can "take" things on a quest...what things can you take? How does that help you? I didn't know you can have an escort either.
It sounds like you came up with a really awesome and intricate game but all of us don't have any idea what's going on or what we can or should be doing!
Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

Buildings are hidden until their cost is met, surprise factor.
Your goal should be to expand the colony and increase its profitability as well as your chances at getting extra income.
Well 20 lumberjacks or 1 farmer... one gives you a good amount of wood per week, while the other gives you food. What do you want?
Ever played an idle game or management game? You buy stuff without knowing the exact output numbers. Of course a farmer gives you more food than a forager. 20 lumberjacks would be good to get a lot of wood and unlock buildings for instances, since you'll be meeting their requirements....
So think of it in a tactical standpoint...
This game is along the lines of - what kind of stuff do I want to figure out?
I made it this way because variety will shape colonies to be different, different focuses will develop colonies in unique ways, specializing them.
Think about the things you can unlock with stone, wood, different workers... then take the necessary measures.
Your colonists are at your command, you can order them to do everything, but they won't perform out of their specialization... for instances, order 20 lumberjack to mine for stone, they'll do it, but the results would be less than optimal.
It's natural for people to be a little bit disoriented with the game, it's on purpose, to hide the features until the way people play the game unlocks them. Plus, from an organizational standpoint it's the best choice.
If you have any doubt, just ask, just don't ask me about future unlocks, like buildings, techs and so on, I want players to have their prefered way of playing reward them for it.
Hope to have cleared the air a bit for you, but open to questions.

Thanks - I'm good with not knowing the unlocks and whatnot if that's how you want it. But just from this convo i've learned a lot of information that I would think should be made available...like that colonists can do other things outside their specialty, for example.
It sounds like you know what you're doing, but my suggestion, as a professional game developer and designer for the past 7 years, is to write up a post that explains how the game works and all the things you can do - like an instruction manual.
Even starting with how we take our turns - the assumption is that we comment on the post here, but it doesn't actually say that anywhere. Is there a time limit by when we have to submit our moves? Can we change them by editing the comment? If so, by when are they considered final?
Sorry to be such a pain - i'm just really excited about this :-)

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

For shelter, you need to build it. Your colony is in that clearing... you aren't going to build the colony in a cave... you'll have to get the right resources to unlock certain buildings. What resources? We don't tell, but obviously as far as building is concerned wood and stone are kings.
Read my answer to Matt above as well.

Hey @spiritualmax
Are we able to team up to do the quests? For safety's sake since most of us can't afford troops.
And how long do we have to make our decisions on everything?
Also, do the workers have static rewards or variable? For example, will a forager always bring say 5 food, or could it vary from 0 to 10 food per round?

Let's start by saying I really love this and am cool with the total confusion and chaos and unknown of what to do. I never read the game manual and usually have to remake my characters after totally messing up my first account on any RPG. I admit it's frustrating but all add's another layer. (PS I'm not ass kissing...lol).
As for my turns. I will hire 1 lumberjack and 1 miner and send them both on their assigned roles to harvest lumber and stone.
I will set off foraging for food, since I don't trust the hired help and feel quite qualified to do this task.
At this time, I will decline to trade with anyone else, but quite happy to negotiate and open any formal diplomacy channels with everyone else. I have also upvoted everyone comments as a show of good will and hope that somehow helps me.
I will also be increasing my delegation by an additional 150SP in hope that reaps me some sort of additional benefit next round.

Lol! I went back through and reread the given info... Turns out I just assumed that the boat came with colonists and to me that includes ALL ages. At least all the pictures in my head do. 🤔
I went back and decided it possible this was a small boat of folks to get started and we'd send for others later. But was confused at the ability to PAY people who weren't part of the game.
Alas, it's been confirmed. I don't have any hard-working teenagers. 😏
But- no doubt I'll find the supplies to make cookies in no time!
Side note: the ONLY other (kinda) RPG I've played was a post-apocalyptic online story. I (as usual) chose to be the cook/baker. So a big part of my foraging was finding things to make sweets/snacks. As morale is HIGHLY boosted with things like these. I still think it's important. 😉
Also, I do hope your first few days on the island proof successful and safe. Let me know if you need a hand with anything. 😍

Greetings, fellow colonists!
I pay a (sexy) builder and we head out to forage and scan the area for safe, indigenous plants we may be able to incorporate into our diets.
Before arriving on this new world I was trained in as many species of plants, edible and inedible, and animals that we may encounter. But as a brainy gal, I'm taking the brawn of a builder with me into the surrounding forrests, as protection and to carry stuff. 😍
Right before setting out, several of the antsy teens were itching for something to do. I sent them on a quest around the the neighboring colonies to deliver Welcome notes to all colony leaders, wishing them well on these first days in the new world.
Edit to add: After further investigation, I may have assumed incorrectly... I assumed we were the leaders, but we had people with us (implied by the availability of workers to pay....) If this isn't true simply disregard the teenager's task, I'll bake cookies for everyone soon enough.

@cryptoempire what are buildings that's available, their function/effect and what's their resource cost and turn to build ?
Is there like a google sheet for the tracking resources, army, buildings for easier reading ?
Is there food/population limit for the different type of workers ? building house/barracks to increase population/army limit ?
Will there be civilisation age advancement ? if yes, what's the resource cost and requirement.
if yes, Will there be more resource type in the future as the civilisation age upgrade

Buildings will get unlocked as you get enough resources for them.
Building speed depends on the amount of builders.
So far there's no google sheet done, have in mind it's only me working on the game so far.
The population limit is kinda like the SP, after you hire one worker with 50 SP it is used, and that 50 sp is bound to that worker, so you cant hire another one.
The way to increase the amount of workers is by increasing delegation, fortunately the profits you get give you plenty of room for that.
More updates are going to be done of course, for now you're not exploring even a small part of the game.
Keep on exploring :D

@cryptoempire,
I increased my delegation earlier, would I be able to hire two workers this round?
I'm also willing to start trading my surplus stone for food with anyone that is interested... How does trade work in game?

You just leave your request here and hope another interesting party picks it up, like you did.
Not this round no, sorry but the crawl didnt pick it up, with the complexity of the game and the amount of people involved I cant keep track manually.
Sorry :(

Colony: Hire a lumberjack, preferably a singing Brit.
Action: Quest, study the fauna. Hopefully I can find something easy to hunt, to make fur clothing to stay warm.
Diplomacy: Will trade 5 wood for food.
Name my colony "Truthville" with the motto, "Make the Empire Great Again."
Question:
If the worker is a permanent purchase, does that mean I cannot have more workers unless I increase delegation? Or will I be able to hire an additional worker next week, if I keep my delegation the same?

That is indeed correct, if your delegation keeps on being 50 SP, you have to fire a worker to get a new one.

@spiritualmax, @cryptoempire
To: the Emperor,
I respectfully proclaim that, as the founder of my colony the 'DoEMaAC', or, the 'Dwarves of Essential Mining and Acquisitions Company', we will prove to be a peaceful and essential part of the kingdom, by providing a great resource in the trade of our stones, and possibly soon, gems and metals too?!
We will offer first-trade rights to the Empire, then, second to anyone of the realm who is interested, and that pays a fair price.
Our first effort of production will be as an offering to the Empire, to sample the results of our labor.
~ Glory to the Empire, and long live the Emperor!
(Transfer +5 stone to the Imperial Outpost when it is available in my colony resources)

It pleases me to see that the DoEMaAC sees the value of working as an ally to the Empire!
We look forward to see your new land expand and develop into a bustling hub of trade so we can both profit.
As a token of our gratitude and trust, we've returned the stone you sent, and I gave orders to Ambassador Crane to place you as a possible ally with the Empire in the New World.
Regards,
Emperor SpiritualMax

Thank you. An excellent decision, your Imperial Majesty; of course, I will then proceed to dedicate this gift in your name to use as the cornerstone and foundation of our first building, establishing the colony of DoEMaAC upon this new land, and by proxy, increasing the Empire's reach.
