Hey fellow Steemians, Crypto Gawd here!
Hope you all enjoyed the 4th. I know I sure did! Hang on, while I scarf down this last hot dog. Lol.
Now, I just wanted to talk about some ways we can make our favorite online social destination an even greater experience. So, I decided to start a series that will benefit all us Steemians with a better and more efficient platform.
Here's a list of improvements I think can help make our favorite platform even better
5 Random ideas for a better Steemit experience:
Show our new follower’s profiles
Instead of just finding the number of followers have changed, the platform should show us who our new followers are. Maybe show a notification button up on the top right and a quick view of the profiles of all new followers. This way we can know who just recently followed us instead of trying to guess. It can also help us figure out the type of audience we are attracting with better accuracy. If we know our audience, we will know what articles work and what posts garner attention from the different demographics out there.
Add a recommended article section based on our interests
This one will give Steemit a more tailored feel. It will give me the impression that Steemit knows exactly what you want to read. It will make it easier to find more interesting content that that appeals to you. You also won't have to dig through trending and hot articles if most of them aren't your cup of tea. And let's face it, just cause it's trending, doesn't exactly mean you'll be interested. How many coding projects can you get excited about per day? Lol.
Show latest, rising stars and most popular Steemian users in their own section
This section will show us the new users, rising stars and most popular users. This can be handy for the folks who want to know who to follow. It will help new users get discovered. It will help rising stars grow faster. It will also allow the popular users to be showcased. This way we all get a piece of the recognition pie and it will become a lot easier to find users that you would have never known about before.
Cloud tags
Have a cloud tag on the first page. This will show all the most popular hashtags of the day. The bigger the word, the more popular the topic. This will instantly allow the visitor to know what the hottest happenings are on the site. And, everybody wants to know that with this almost instant approach. This way you can see what's hot without digging through a bunch of posts. It will also make the latest events more visually appealing on the front page.
Native Steemit Search
This one should have been there already from the start. But, when I search it goes to “Google custom search.” I think when we search it should stay within the Steemit site and not use the Google search engine. This creates a certain feeling of disconnect. A better idea would be to have a built in search within the platform for a cleaner look, fee, and user experience. This does not seem like a hard fix and I expect it will be changed soon. Gotta keep it within the confines of Steemit and it will be a more fluid search and engagement. It will also prevent Steemians from wandering off into Google land.
That's it for now, but more coming..
I will leave this list off at this point for now and let the devs marinate on these ideas. Hopefully some coders hear me and get to work on these improvements. I think little by little we can be better than the big guys. Don't get me wrong, this is my fave social site. We just need to work out the kinks to be the most user friendly and prettiest. I will be dropping sequels to this list as more ideas come to mind. I also didn't want to give out too much sauce on this first post. Haha. Stay tuned and keep steemin! Crypto Gawd, OUT!
