Dear Diary: I Am Disappointed That My Religious Preacher Has A Negative Opinion On Cryptocurrency

Today as I was watching a consultation segment where a person was talking about cryptocurrency and I heard that my preacher cited about its volatility and that it has no backing of gold or whatever, and that it is not centralized, and that if you buy Bitcoin and the price fell which happened recently then you lose money.

Then he cited some scriptures regarding love of money and greed. Well I don't know about being greedy but we see it really in crypto world but what about in the markets like the stock market? I guess he is right at some points because sometimes in the crypto world we buy a coin and then sell it for a huge percentage and that is where greed is seen and felt like what happened recently where big players cashed out and left the late buyers sell at a loss.

I just like our church really to make use of a cryptocurrency. A few years back they were robbed by policemen and seized their money which was donated by members for use in the propagation of the word of God and to fund their religious and social work for members and other people. Had they used cryptocurrency I bet the police won't even find a single cent if the money is in their hardware wallet or online account.

Of course donation will be much easier for members if we use cryptocurrency because they can just scan the official bar codes or BTC address or whatever and the money will go straight to the owner of the account fast and easy. Plus if the members would learn how to trade cryptocurrency or just blog at steemit they will find a good source of money to help the church in its word of God preaching and its world wide social work among others and all will be happy because members will have no more problem about donating money and the church will also get money more easily for their purposes like free education, medical missions, emergency helo service, etc.

I think that our church position in cryptocurrency is not really that permanent and maybe as time goes by they will learn more about it because at this instance they just compare it to MLM or pyramid schemes which I think is funny. But they do not ban members from using it especially if a member like me knows some things about its wise use and how to use it without violating some of what the bible teaches like avoiding being greedy.

Quite often new technology is disliked by older institutions. There were many who said the Internet was a bad thing and wouldn't be a success, they got that wrong!
Volitilty is often normal in a new market, it won't always be like this.
Have a great day @cryptopie

Hello @cryptopie I am so glad to know that the Steemit community has made a small difference in your life. I, since I first learned of Steemit, saw its potential to help many people around the world. It was probably the main reason that I joined this place some moons ago. I realize that to this day, many people do not understand crypto-currency. I could go on about cryptos, but the main point I ask people who believe that crypto is bad is this; before Bitcoin and cryptops, what did people use to buy/sell drugs and launder money?
The answer is simple, CASH. People continue to use cash everywhere around the world anonymously to commit these and other crimes. Case closed.

Cryptopie, take care.

Hi Sir @streetstyle
Steemit is a part of my life now and indeed it had helped me from my deepest worries regarding my medical problem as well as helping my parents in turn.
I know that cryptos also have some flaws but look what it already had done to individuals like me. It gave me a peace of mind and hope that it can change my life for the better.
I will still give time about what my church thinks about cryptocurrencies because they still have a lot to learn about it.
Thank you Sir about your selfless kind support.
God Bless and Keep you..

Funny that they talk about cryptocurrency not being backed by anything but won't talk about fiat currency which is also not backed by anything. Crypto at least uses the revolutionizing blockchain technoloy. Governements on the other hand just print money and the banks depend upon debts and interest to make money which can also be seen as greed.

I pray soon that they will see about the good points and advantages of using cryptos thaan looking about its seemingly dangerous sides.

Sure cryptopie, the church people will learn more about it and become more positive, but it takes time.

Much Love and Light

I don't really understand where the bible come in such a case since technology is progressive , the world is evolving too fast for one to comprehend , maybe they are naive not to understand cryptocurrecies are all about giving the one the freedom they once lost.

All church have their doctrines maybe yours don't support it. It happens but don't feel said just be you. Don't do what people are doing do what you know makes you happy. Personal conviction matters alot.

Don't get angry with your church. Everyone has a different opinion about things. Your church might be scared of the end time features. You know we were taught that the end time there would be a universal currency and a mark which people would use to trade. So maybe that is why the frown about it and see it as an Antichrist stuff. So don't feel sad.

I agree with you @cryptopie but only a few knows about the cryptocurrency and many are scared in using them for transactions .

Every good thing need his own time. The topic cryptocurrency is not new anymore but been never so popular as now. Also i guess the preacher been from an older generation. More harder for them to understand all about cryptocurrency. But, time will show. Hope the best!

i like your every post. i waite your next post. tnx. @cryptopie

I completely agree with your thought @cryptopie

I understand the preacher's concern about stability on bitcoin and cryptocurrency. However, all forms of investments are risky in nature. What I did not like about though is the sudden reminder of the love of money and greed. Crypto is not parallel to greed otherwise it should be equally true to other forms of investments (ie. MLM as you mentioned). Greed is when you abuse money or the income you receive.

Sad reality-people are quick to question the ability of something just because of one-sided information. He could have also asked those who are investing on crypto and not only get ideas out of people who does not believe on its capability.

If we start gambling with crypto and lost our investment in that kind of bad habits than it is wrong but you are not doing here gambling and we are too. Just if this type of personal blog is giving us some our income for our daily needs that is not wrong, I am sure you can ask anyone. God knows well who is right doing and who is wrong. Am i right @streetstyle and @cryptopie?? Just we must do positive things to help others around us in this world.

Cryptos are new and unique, so people don't know how to relate with them yet accept by comparing them to things they are familiar with. Like you said, given time, their attitudes could change.

Not everyone gets it or understands it and most that don't haven't a clue of how their fiat of choice is evaporating in value each and every day my friend. When you run across these people just smile and know that in the future whether they like it or not they'll be forced to use it someday! Remember you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Glad you are well my friend!

Hmmm... Ask your preacher what the PHP Peso is tied to? Gold? Silver? Hope? lol

I'm sure he's a terrific minister. I'd suggest that he learn more about cryptocurrencies, read a few white papers, and then provide some opinion based in fact and not supposition...

I do not know about any religion, But according to Islam, In every kind of trade(except all that harm the humanity and considered bad spiritually) where chances of losing and profit are in balance that trade is allowed. And the cryptocurrencies full fill this condition. So it is allowed in Islam. But Its all about the religions every religion has its own point of views.
I hope you are well, By the way, you look much better than before

It only means they don't understand what MONEY is.

Tell them to study World History again. They might want to use SHEEP/LAMB again as their "money". LOL

Hello there. I am also part of a religious community. For me, it is not bad if the money is to be used for good things like for your needs, medications and dialysis. As for me, in our community, we are taught that we work hard to earn not only for ourselves but for us to help and others and also the church.

I think he is right! Because it is money with no guarantee !
