I'm sure that most of you would want to know or maybe even think you know who the most influential person on steemit is at the moment. The recent update of the SteemWhales website can pretty easily give you that answer thanks to the newly added feature of tracking now many followers a user has. Do note that there seems to be a bit of a delay in the update of the data displayed on the SteemWhales website, so you can check the most recent numbers on the user's prfile page on steemit!
So I guess that some of you are already thinking, it is @dantheman or it is @stellabelle or sure. Well, no, sorry to disappoint you but it is neither of them, nor is one of the other whale investors or earlier adopters or even creators of steemit. The numbers clearly say it is one of the newcomer celebrities and that one is @dollarvigilante, like it or not, he is the most influential person on steemit at the moment!
This is of course if you only look only at the numbers representing influence as per the people that follow and vote for him, if talking about who is more powerful or has a heavy vote etc. he is nowhere near the top. That however does not make him have less influence on people with what he does and says here on steemit, regardless if he is being considered as a controversial figure by some or not.
Why @dollarvigilante is the most influential one, simply because what he posts on steemit influences the most readers all at once, or at least should be if everyone is actually checking what he posts and not just blindly upvotes (that though still counts as influence).
At the moment of posting this he already has 2163 followers, a number that apart from @dantheman's 1383 followers is more than twice of anyone else on steemit at the moment and I won't be surprised to see it even going for double of Dan's followers. For the sake of comparison @stellabelle currently has just 933 followers on steemit.
When @dollarvigilante came to steemit he received a good welcome like most other celebrities that come to the platform, but what he did is to also bring a lot of his followers and many of them registered and started using the platform and also following him as "their leader". Not that it is a bad thing bringing more people to steemit, it definitely needs that, but this is just an example of what a big opinion influencer can do in a very short time on a platform like steemit. I'm already seeing another quickly rising start following in his footsteps and that is @larkenrose.
But back to @dollarvigilante, if you are not satisfied with just the number of followers he has that is significantly larger than anyone else's on steemit, you should also check how many people vote on his posts. His posts are getting between 500 and 1000 votes, while for the sake of comparison Dan's posts receive on average in between 300 and 600. Stella's posts are getting around 200 to 400 votes on average. Just to include @larkenrose here as well, he is already getting on average 300+ on his not yet that many posts on steemit.
So let us now see how he uses his already big influence on steemit…

It makes sense given how enthusiastic he is about it and he has his own podcast.

I am not sure how many bots vote for them, and how many people vote for them because of the curation rewards but not the quality of content.

I don't think he came with an army of bots here, he came with an army of followers and that is for sure. If his real followers are acting like bots, that is a different thing though... :)

It's great that we can see exactly what is going on. I've not seen a site before that exposes so much data. On steemit we know exactly what people make from each post. I'm assuming that people like what dollarvigilante is writing to vote it up so much. That's how it should be

I have been following Jeff Berwick's work for a few years now, and yes, I am one of the thousands that followed him to steemit. I love @dollarvigilante, he smokes more cigarettes than me! LOL

Smoking cigarettes is very bad habit. Extremely unhealthy.
