We the steemians are unanimously agree that Steem needs some fresh ideas about how to compete with existing social media such as Facebook and others. To approach such a serious challenge we need indeed to think out of the box. Steem needs to overcome its boundaries to achieve the new qualitative level and the new place in the Net and the World.
I took the liberty to formulate The Five Questions, whose solution will bring a new horizons to Steem movement.
- How to expand Steem community vastly?
- How to overcome the boundaries of a single site?
- How to make your precious Steem content not flushed down the drain but stay viewable & earning 24/7 forever?
- How to diversify Steem content so it'll include sites, applications, blogs, channels, virtually everything you can place a button or sticker on, including even yourself?
- How To TakeOver the Internet? (bwa-ha-ha, just kidding, in a measure)
The Universal Answer is: Steemize Everything!
We need a button (banner, label, sticker etc) which will transform virtually everything into the Steem content when placed on it! All registered steemians could then vote and comment on this labeled content as if it's a post at steemit.com.
How It Will Work: Some Basic Outlines
Every steemian could request unlimited amount of buttons attributed to him, just like luggage tags. These buttons could be placed on any content that user have access to. Then any another registered steemian could vote or comment on this content using the button attached to it.
For every issued Steem Button a new topic in the External Content section of steemit.com will be automatically created and after that all comments and ratings related to that button will be accumulated there.
Besides digital resources, one could steemize any physical objects using QR-Code stickers or posters. Even a living person could become Steem content with the help of printed QR-Code pin-button!
So in the future you could upvote the jet that get you to the destination on time, the movie you just saw, the person you feel urge to cheer up and much more!
Turning Steem into the global content evaluation and discussion system will also give it unprecedented opportunities when it is used as a payment system.
Steem is absolutely must be the first to implement this global strategy! The first takes all!
So did i said TakeOver The Internet? I was mistaken, i had The World in mind!
Just correct me if I am mistaken somewhere but it seems to me this idea worth some considering and discussing.

Steem is a radically different platform than others. The purpose is to create/discuss/share interesting & useful content and subject matter. Steemit was not created to spam the planet earth.

Not sure he is advocating 'spamming the planet earth'.
@cuckoo - I think the most important answer to your questions is found in #2. Due to Steemit operating on top of the Steem blockchain, and also given that it is an open source platform, any number of layers can be built using the security, functionality, and economy of the Steem blockchain.
This creates an organic ecosystem that grows and thrives with each new layer carving out more niches of content creators (or whatever other opportunities we haven't thought of yet).

I beg to differ because his whole concept is focused on "upvoting", which says a lot about the way he views the platform.. Now I could be incorrect, but I'm using common sense here.
Why upvote the ISS or any other inatimate object? Why create something for the sole purpose of upvoting it? Even if it were highly profitable it'd be nothing more than a ponzi scheme. Is that not counteractive to the whole purpose of steemit?
With all due respect, correct me if I'm wrong.

Well the upvote is the means by which all value flows in the Steem blockchain, so I completely disagree that his view of the platform is naturally wrong.
If you can't earn from upvotes, all under the security umbrella of the Steem blockchain, this is no better than a baby Reddit with few people.
