why do you think this platform should reward bloggers who have invested little or no money with enough compensation to consider it a full time job?
Because having invested a lot doesn't mean that your posts are any good. I'd rather see someone rewarded who has put effort into his posts.
Payouts and rewards are for getting cryptocurrency into more people's hands, through 'proof of brain', not for fairly compensating content.
Uhm what? Proof of brain means that posts should get rewards for the merit they offer, not because the author has invested a lot.
You have to build your presence on here, invest in more steem power so you have more voting power, this attracts others to you and you grow organically.
I somewhat disagree, sure you have to build your presence, like on any other platform, but you don't need to invest anything. I very much enjoy @steevc's content for example and he hasn't invested a dime in powering up. Does his content not deserve any rewards because he hasn't invested? That's just one example.
Also, you talk about 'organic growth', if you need to invest in order to grow, that's literally the opposite of organic growth.
The actual social media aspect of steem should be looked at as influencers and companies creating there individual marketing and advertising campaigns, and will be where a majority of author rewards will be generated from simply because they will have invested the most $ into powering up Steem.
That's where I completely disagree. You want a system that's completely pay to play? A platform where the whales get all the votes, just because they're colluding with each other to make themselves and their friends richer?
You're entitled to that opinion of course, but we aren't going to see mass adoption with that mindset. Imagine if people had to spend thousands of dollars, just to get an account on Medium or otherwise their posts wouldn't be seen by anyone. yeah I don't think that's such a great system.
I'm not saying that people shouldn't get any return on their investment, but that's supposedly what curation rewards are for.
This is not my opinion. This is from the mouth of the creator of Steemit and the Steem blockchain @ned in a video he posted last week.
Proof of brain is just proof you are a brain, not that you write intelligently. He says this is his concept because eventually it gets more people to have ANY amount of crypto.
Also, organic means without spending money on advertising for growth.
All of your stated opinions are 'what you would rather see', I am just giving you the reality of it.
It is not about what I want, it is what it is.

Here is the video on the current state of affairs of Steemit, it is over an hour long but somewhere towards the middle/end he talks about proof-of-brain and all of his intentions.

I have actually invested since money in Steem, but it's a tiny amount compared with what I have earned. We really do need investment to give Steem more perceived value, but the value of a post or comment should definitely not depend on the finances of the creator. Steem offers great opportunities for those who don't have much to gain from whatever skills and talents they have. Those with the money can gain from curation and by offering services, although you know I'm not a fan of selling votes.
If we just imagine that Steem could reach the level of Medium or Quora and become a default place to seek information then it could be seen as valuable. There should still be a place for our more personal blogging as well as the video, audio, photography aspects.
I want to see it achieve this potential.

The potential on the Steem blockchain is massive but it has nothing to do with the blogging side of things. That is simply to utilize proof-of-brain and showcase how much stress the blockchain can handle with ease.

'Nothing to do with it'? What is it going to be used for? Blogging has earned me 16k Steem so far. I only vote on stuff I read. Voting determines where the rewards will go. If it all becomes automated then just about everyone will leave. Its already gone too far in that direction.

Steemit is an 'app' on the Steem blockchain. Steemit could disappear forever, and other apps and websites will still continue to use the Steem blockchain.
Just like bitcoin was created to showcases what it's blockchain was capable of because having a 'product' allows for non-experts to grasp, that is what steemit is to the steem blockchain. An example of what can be done on it.
If steemit disappears, you still retain all of your steem.....and if businesses like steemmonsters continue to use and grow, the price of steem will keep pushing up higher in price.

I know it's an app and those are growing in number. Most involve publishing content.
Steem Monsters is interesting as it doesn't seem to involve any voting or otherwise affect distribution of rewards. Maybe I'm missing something there. I think it should at least link to blogs as some players will be writing about the game or making videos.

You are missing that Steemit and Steem are two different things. Your opinions are based on only one aspect of the entire blockchain, but it does not feel that way because it is the main thing visible.
By understanding what you are a part of better, you will better understand how to maximize your efforts.

You know what steem has to do? GET RID OF THE PONZI SCHEME. You can’t vote yourself money. Why has anyone NOT said anything.. oh wait I did t say anything because I didn’t put in a penny, used upvote bots to make a profit, then upvote myself a profit, and the. delegate at a profit. I mean really.. does anyone here actually run a business? I do, and it’s hard work. Not this ponzi bullshit where you va. “upvote” your own content. Give me a break. Want to fix STEEM? It’s too late, too many people upvote their own content from ninja mined stake. And people are surprised at the power downs?
