How to include Text Separators in my Blog

in steemit •  6 years ago  (edited)

About 2 months ago I wrote a post in Spanish about everything we need to know about text separators or vectors for our blog.

Today I decided to share it in English since from that day I have accumulated my own collection of dividers, and I would like to practice the "knowledge management" by providing the community users with the resources to stylize, structure and order their posts so that they look nice to the reader.

Text separators are horizontal lines that are used to divide sections of documents. Bobuu, 2009.

When entering the separators it is important to emphasize that it is necessary to make a space before and after the code of the separator entered. Here I share some examples of separators, from the simplest codes to enter, to images that you can take from the internet, always respecting the copyright of free use or created by yourself.

Frequently used separators:

  • In the html, enter three asterics together (***), or three hyphens (---), or three underscores (___) and automatically you'll see the finest separator as a semitransparent line. Reimerlin, 2017. Example:

    ***
    ---
    ___

It will look like this:

  • According to Hazunaweb, there's another way to include that line, and that is by writing the next element:

    <hr>

So it will look just the same way:

  • The separator to insert a blank space, or what we also call line break, or double spacing is used for cases in which the paragraphs are placed all continuous (Librosweb), just enter:

     <br>

  • And finally, according to the tutorial of Ulpgc, a separator commonly used to indicate the beginning and end of a paragraph is formed by the following marks at the beginning and end:

  <P>
  This would be the first paragraph. This would be the first paragraph. This would be the first paragraph.
  </P>
  <P>
  This would be the second paragraph. This would be the second paragraph. This would be the second paragraph.
  </P>

Images Separators:

This type of separators can be easily located on the Internet through a search engine by entering a key phrase such as text separators or vector dividers as long as they are free to use verifying the copyright. Once you selected the one you like, copy the link and then enter it in the html of your post just where you want to make that separation of paragraphs. Another option would be to save the image on your computer and then upload it the same way you do with any other image. Remember to always add the source of that image at the end of your post. If it is a separator designed by yourself, it is also important to mention it at the end of your post.

Here you can see several examples of separators that you can use, most of them are long and horizontal, if you like one that is shorter than usual, then you should center it to make it look great in your post:
