SteemSync: My Experiences of Synchronicity on Steemit Have Been Profound!

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

Synchronicity is something I've been facinated with ever since a child. I've had endless amounts of experiences with it and every single time I see these connections in reality come I go back to my original facination with it. It's some powerful stuff for me.

However, for about 3 years I fell out of love with it. I won't get into why, but I will say that Steemit has brought back my love for it, and the reason is because I now experience it almost every single day!

The odds of this sync is amazing. Every day when I wake up I begin to think about what I want to post on Steemit. I'll have a list of ideas in my head then I'll come onto Steemit to do some curating and while curating BOOM! I see sync.

For instance, one day I was thinking of writing a blog about "psychic vampires", only to find a few minutes later while curating I see someone had just posted about "psychic vampires". Of all topics in the world to write about how in the world did that happen? Sync is why.

This sort of thing happens almost every day for me. I'll make comments on Steemit, and seconds later someone will say they just posted about the very points I made. Why? Sync.

When you pay attention to sync. it begins to appear before you all the time. I learned this the first time I had awakened to it...

I was a teenager and had a girlfriend that was trying to get me into a fiction book called the Celestine Prophecy. Early on in that book it explains through the story how sync works. I had only read part of the first chapter by the time I had my first realized sync experience.

I was driving to work, and on the way out of my neighborhood and a car slammed into the side of me. I get out of the car (luckily not hurt) and the driver who hit me is all mad at me.

As this is going on a car pulls up behind me, and it's my girlfriend! She was delivering pizza's. She was the only other car there.

This was long before cellphones, and so we convinced the driver to drive to my house to talk with my dad. My girlfriend was the one to help negotiate that and everything worked out in the end. On the way to my house we both had expressed that this was sync!

There are a lot of theories as to explain what sync is. I for one feel like it is a bit related to Extrasensory perception (ESP). Some of us have it more than others, but I think this is due to a person trying to understand it thus flexing their ESP muscles where most others who do not experience is due to not trying to become aware of it. Maybe this is why the government many years ago tried to get me to become a remote viewer? hmmm...

Psychologist Carl Jung was the first to explain synchronicity:

Synchronicity is a concept, first explained by psychoanalyst Carl Jung, which holds that events are "meaningful coincidences" if they occur with no causal relationship yet seem to be meaningfully related. During his career, Jung furnished several slightly different definitions of it. Jung variously defined synchronicity as an "acausal connecting (togetherness) principle," "meaningful coincidence", and "acausal parallelism." He introduced the concept as early as the 1920s but gave a full statement of it only in 1951 in an Eranos lecture.

Shift laid out some good points about the characteristics of synchronicity:

Characteristics of Synchronicity

  • The unconscious content which, in accordance with the compensatory needs of the conscious orientation, enters consciousness (something is in our conscious)
  • The conscious orientation of the subject around which the compensatory synchronistic activity centers (something happens concerning what is in our mind)
  • An objective event corresponds with this intrapsychic state [may be literal or figurative correspondence)
  • Even though the intrapsychic state and the objective event may be synchronous according to clock time and spatially near to each other, the objective event may, contrary to this, be distant in time and/or space in relation to the intrapsychic state (as in telepathy, clairvoyance, etc.)
  • The intrapsychic state and the objective event are acausally causally related to each other
  • The synchronistic event is meaningful (excludes some coincidence, but does not require the meaning to be understood)
  • The intrapsychic state and the objective event as meaningful parallels.
  • The numinous charge associated with the synchronistic experience (feeling of spiritual experience)
  • Import of the subjective-level interpretation (the content must reflect back on the issues of the individual)
  • The archetypal level of meaning (transcends the individual and implies absolute knowledge).

We live in such an interesting reality. Not a day goes by that I'm not some how amazed, and since I've been experiencing it again since joining Steemit it begs me to question WHY Steemit? I've experienced sync many many times in my life, it's not to the amount as I have now on Steemit.

I get the feeling that there's something really special about this platform that goes beyond the tech. Like this is something "meant to be" for the world... or perhaps it's just "meant to be" for my world. I'm not sure yet.

I wonder if others on Steemit have had similar experiences/realizations?

perfect :)

I often write about synchronicity but I think the Shift article is a bit abtruse - I see the phenomenon as a manifestation of Jung's theory of a collective unconscious and how all our minds are interconnected. This is a vastly undervalued post - a very interesting piece of writing,

Thanks @johnjgeddes. I find it really hard to describe with words - sync and a lot of things in our reality/lives seems to be beyond us which has made this subject hard to clearly describe. In the Sync Book's 1 & 2 both had 26 authors contribute what they believed sync was and even so it's still something hard to describe and understand to those who have never experienced it. I think you are correct with it being connected to our collective unconscious. It's all connected with us all as a human species of the earth. Great thoughts, man. Thank you.

I've had a rash of events happen today that seem to all be linked in a noticeable pattern of synchronicity .. and then I saw this post. Its good to be 'aware' and to meet like minded individuals. Kind Regards!

That is awesome @giftedgaia! :)

@giftedgaia sync!!

Holy Moly! Man - the other outstanding 'ping' here is that I just realized you produced the music for @winstonwolfe's video today.. who is one of my best friends & cohost of @steemittalk podcast with me. Ok - as a student of synchronicity, you're on my radar Sir!

Awwww man. That's great. :) Same here - Awesome to know you do @steemittalk too. This sync is to connect people for sure. :)

Although I've had similar experiences, they haven't been on Steemit...yet. On another note, I did read The Celestine Prophecy back in 2011.

Awesome @timothyb. Glad to hear you read the book. It's a lot better than their attempt at making it a movie. The movie hardly got into the philosophy behind it.

I have noticed this many times on Steemit. It seems very interesting to me. I think we all kind of take inspiration from each other somehow.

yeah @lightsplasher. I think so too. I was thinking that maybe some of it has to do with the fact that Steemit promotes people to be creative and we feed off the inspiration that people on here give each other. It's remarkable.
