I'm a new user as well. Just checked my wallet - the same thing happened to me. No notification, no explanation. However, I saw somewhere that Steemit is experiencing an uptick in new users. Maybe they needed to spread delegated Steem power in order to accommodate the new load?

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

    Okay thanks for your input. It seems like older users with much more Steem Power still possess their original delegated Steem Power. So it doesn't seem like a smart move for growth to grab the Steem Power back from the beginners.
