Hardfork 19 - aka - Steem Equality (Changes that matter) | Simplify Steemit

Steemit is evolving day by day and trying hard to get out of its infancy stage. Now in the same direction Hardfork 19 is the next step.

Helloo Steemians......

How are you today....

Dubbed as Steem Equality this hardfork is one of the important updates to Steem and as the name suggests (Equality), tries to minimize the large difference between the big whales and the struggling minnows. So this HF is much more important for the starter accounts than the established ones. There are some of the things that have been changed to achieve the goal and here we will look at the top changes or features that HF19 is going to bring to steem.

1. Rewards will now be linear:

The rewards curve which was n^2 (Square of n) - where n is your stake in the network, will now be n. That means With the introduction of a linear reward curve in HF19 everyone will have a say directly proportional to their stake in the network.

2. Curation rewards curve will now be a square-root function:

To offset the changes in rewards due to the linear reward curve, curation rewards curve have been changed to a square-root function. This model slightly favors the smaller accounts more than the current curve. With that said, don't expect to see significant differences in curation rewards using this curve.

3.Increase in Each vote's impact:

After the hard-fork 19, each vote you cast (be you a whale or a minnow) will be 4x more powerful than the pre HF19 vote. Pre HF19, you are limited to using 1/200th of your remaining voting power in a single vote. After the hard-fork this will increase 4x per vote. Now here we need to keep one thing in mind, as the vote impact has increased 4x, the voting power will also reduce 4x faster, as you go on voting. However, you can concentrate and spread it (Vote Impact) out by a voting power slider which you get after a minimum of 500SP, or using some external tools like esteem app.

4. Historical posts cannot be deleted:

After a post is a week old and has a reply, then it cannot be deleted post HF19.
INFO: - Blockchain is a permanent database and once something is written, it cannot be deleted, however you can edit your posts which are also saved with a time-stamp.. But now you can't edit a post that is older than a week.

Thank you.... #SimplifySteem is a series started to make things more clear to the starter ones here.

What will the regenerate speed of the Power be? It used to be around 0.8% per hour right? What will the new rate be?

@scrooger There is no change in the powering down and up of the voting power... But however you are using more of your voting power in a single vote i,e 2% which earlier was 0.5%, that results in rapid lowering of your voting power.... The regenerating power will be same as previous...
In simple terms Post HF19 your 1 vote will be equal to 4 votes of pre hardfork. If you have a voting slider you can minimize the effect by e,g if you wanted to give someone a vote that is still equal to 0.5% voting power slide the power slider to 25 percent. He will recieve a vote which is equal to current(pre HF19) 100 percent. Hope you understand.

Use your vote wisely

Awesome! When exactly will this go live? Like UTC time?
