Has it already been a year since I signed up with Steemit? Time does fly. Yes, according to steemd.com today is the day when I joined this community in 2017.
So today I have been with Steemit for one year now. I remember when I first signed up reading blogs of people saying similar words.
Well, it has been some kind of a ride. I remember at first I was kind of shy to write a blog and wasn't even sure if I wanted to write.
When I did write something I wasn't sure if it was good enough. Well the best thing to do is just write. Keep going over your writing to see if you spelled everything right.
I kept running my writing through a text to speech program. I knew if it didn't sound right with the computer reading it back to me, then it is time to rewrite.
I also found out that if you run it through a text to speech program you have a lesser chance of losing your writing.
I remember in the beginning I read of people that spent hours on their writing only to post it, but somehow it didn't post and they lost it all cause they had no back up.
Wow. They had to start from scratch again. I thought it would never happen to me, until it did. I did not lose it though.
You see I would just go back to my text to speech, then copy and paste from there to the Steemit post. I saved my writings a few times doing that.
When I first came in my upvote had little value. I knew that I would want to save every bit of Steem Power and SBD so to have the influence in my upvote.
It took me awhile before I traded my SBD for Steem then Steem Power. I didn't want to cash out, cause I wanted the influence of Steem Power.
When I finally figured out how to use Currency Market I was getting about 6 Steem for 1 SBD. I guess it was perfect timing. I think this was around first part of December 2017.
I would read of people buying Steem Power, but I didn't really have any extra to buy some. I knew I would just write for Steem Power and eventually I would have enough Steem Power to give some visible upvotes. Well, it has worked out that way.
What have I written about? Mostly things that happened to me in my day. Sometimes I would write about my adventures of a far away yesterday.
Many times I have written about my 89 Nissan Sentra. One time I wrote about that car and put it on my Facebook.
Well, the original owner of that car commented on how he remembered that car that he and his wife at the time bought it brand new. Yes, I wrote about that too.
I bought it from his ex-wife at about six years old when I bought it last part of 1995. She worked with me at the telephone company that I eventually retired from. The 29 year old car that I have owned for 23 years now gave me a lot of blogs.
Sometimes I would write about health and certain foods I would eat to detox heavy metals. When telling a story I also want to tell valuable information that someone may use in there everyday life.
That was my goal in writing to salt my writings with some valuable information. Even if I tell a story of some plants that produce food.
In writing that I would hope that someone that didn't grow food might try too. Even in my own experience of growing food, I didn't know too much about it.
People from Youtube would teach me how to prune tomato plants. Yes, before that I didn't know of such a thing. Then when I did prune my tomato plants the fruit increased in size.
Well, that is what I call valuable information.
Other times I may quote Jesus or other scriptures in the Bible.
Another thing I found is that why not at least look at the blogs of people that upvoted my blog. Lately I keep a running total of people the upvoted me from steemnow.com.
I just cut and paste from steemnow.com and add it to a list I made in Word. I usually look at recent blogs from people that upvoted me in my last blog.
So I plan to keep on writing. Everyday is an adventure, even the mundane things of the day are adventures to someone else who is in a far place from your location.
Thanks to all who have read anything that I wrote and thank you Steemit for letting me sign up a year ago today.
