With so many personal posts and challenges these days focusing on summaries of The Year That Was and then Goals For The Year Ahead, I quietly reached one of my Steemit objectives for 2018, earlier today:
My Steemit Reputation Just Rolled Past 70!
What a strange sunrise!
Whereas it doesn't really mean much of anything on a larger scale, what it means to me is that I got involved in something and stuck to it for long enough to signal "Yes, I have taken this seriously." It's significant because I have a notoriously short attention span.
The reason I say it may not "mean" much is of course that these days you can fairly easily buy a 70-reputation through using bid bots, but no matter... I know that my number was earned entirely through posting and engagement.
Sadly, I don't have the upvote influence I could have had as the past 24 months have been marked by a long string of financial setbacks, as a result of which I have had to power down twice, simply to keep from "drowning."
I suppose the bright light in that is that I am grateful to this community for the fact that I have not "drowned." So thank you for that!
What We Each Find Meaningful
I haven't really had any "money related" Steemit goals, and my next goal here is also not money-related.
Since I am a 100% manual reader, engager and commenter, my next objective is to reach the "50,000 upvotes given" milestone, which will probably come sometime this spring.
Again, that's just meaningful to me because I know that those votes were only given to posts and comments I actually read and interacted with.
I'm not big on the whole self-congratulatory milestone posts thing, but I like the idea of simply recording these things in the knowledge that the blockchain represents a more or less permanent storage place I can come back to as a reference point, at a later time.
Thanks for reading!
How about YOU? Reached any Steemit "milestones" recently? Got any in your goals and ambitions for 2019? What were/are they? Do you think you'll make it? Or is this stuff just not meaningful to you? What are your most meaningful milestones? Leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

I am 52 yrs old. LoL
I am just learning about the whole BOT thing and how this Steem platform works.
I like the idea of how you have done it without all the automated algorythmic interference.
Real Human interaction is..... "Refreshing"

Call me "old fashioned," but I have this weird idea that social (media) means human beings interacting, not bots and machines.
I saw you got "Curied" the other day... that's a great thing to help you get exposure and move your Steemit adventure along.

Congratulations, and look out for 71.
70 is the Reputation to have, and you have it. 😀
I wish I would of stayed motivated back when I hit the milestone.

Thanks! I've been trying really hard to stay in a creative frame of mind; mostly, I think I just need to cut back on the number of things I choose to get involved in.

Howdy sir denmarkguy! Congratulations on a significant milestone sir. I don't know what the percentage of steemians have achieved a rep70 status but it has to be small and I know you earned yours so well done!

Thank you @janton! Those numbers roll by slower and slower, the further along you get. I have no idea how it ranks, but I imagine it would be in the top 400-500 sitewide...

Yes sir that's pretty rare company and you would have gotten there much faster if you could work on steemit more but you have those businesses. Oh, how was your Christmas sales at the art gallery? That's the only business I know about you having but I think you have more than that don't you?

I have a few too many things on my plate at the moment, and simplifying is definitely on my list of ambitions for 2019. The art gallery was pretty slow this holiday season, although we've had some pretty robust sales since Christmas, so you just never know.
My other businesses are online; as a contract technical writer; two eBay based sales gigs, and then I'm also trying to turn my artistic endeavors into a sideline income.

wow sir denmarkguy! you're juggling alot of projects. I'm surprised you can keep doing so well on steemit at the same time! You must be an efficiency expert. I bet you have every minute of the day planned out.

This is a huge milestone and is something I want to reach in the near future, but I focus on one level at the time. I'm working toward the level 66. ;)

Just keep plugging away at it... I never did anything "big," and just reached this point through a lot of consistency.

Thanks, and congratulations on your dolphinhood! I was there once, and hope to get back there... sadly, I've had to power down a couple of times, for "life" reasons.
