Why You Should Stick Around and Not Power Down

Many people don’t realize that Steemit has been a life-changing experience. I have never thought that I will be able to invest in cryptocurrencies however tiny. I have never felt so empowered in my life. I’ve seen Steem go up and down in the past couple of months, so I guess that is just the cryptoworld. Nevertheless, I am just always here providing goodness and hell to your lives. Despite my complaints about Steemit in the past, I have stuck around and never even thought of powering down this account. I’ve seen a lot of people here announcing that they are leaving but most of them did not really. I’ve seen others who powered down and converted their Steem to other cryptocurrencies. I guess if it is their money then it is really up to them to do whatever they want. Since I didn’t really inject any money into Steemit, I just feel like it is right not to power down.

Not powering down is a kind of respect to those who generously upvoted my articles in the past. I would like to give back and continuously fund the platform in my own way. Given the value of Bitcoins and Altcoins nowadays, it would have been easier for me to just power down, take your money and run. It does not work that way in my life, even though I don’t really have a 9-5 job or a lot of money in real life, it does not mean I am so hungry for wealth. I don't feel the need to take advantage of this community. I guess I am just used to not having money so the idea of quick wealth is not too appealing to me. I’m in for the long haul and not just make a quick buck. Mind you, it really took me a couple of months to be able to save Steem and Bitcoins, so Steemit is not a get-rich-quick scheme. The trick is to just focus on contributing good stuff and learn to write for yourself. You are also helping others through this way.

Even though my upvote is not really worth that much yet, I still want to increase my Steem Power and make a difference in your lives, awww. I am actually happier having a tiny Steem Power to upvote good articles. In the end, helping others is what would really make a person happier. It is a given thing and there’s no argument about it. Helping others will also increase your dopamine levels because seeing others happy is the best feeling in the world. So yeah, I would like to continuously increase my Steem Power by writing more articles and making my project happen at the same time.

I know that some of you didn’t grow up in a society where people usually care about others, hence the depression and high suicide rates. So you all know that the real happy people are not in the wealthy countries, they are the people in countries where the idea of community and sharing are valued and practiced, where people are not so insensitive and absorbed in their own little lives. This is just one of the reasons why these people are usually not prone to depression and suicide no matter how harsh their living condition is. So in the end, no matter how individualistic your society is, there will still be other ways to practice the idea of sharing, this is probably Steemit for starters. By not powering down and by learning to value what others have given you, you would be able to help others in return. Make Steemit the change you want to see in the world.

If I have the chance, I always encourage my friends to invest in cryptocurrencies or write for Steemit. Even if some of them have short attention span, I still try my best to explain where I am getting my money from. I even have a friend who is in debt, and I would like him to see the potential of cryptocurrencies and Steemit. I tell them that the time is now, no more excuses. I just believe that this community would help them just as it helped me.

Wouldn’t you like the idea of being rewarded for your passion and creativity? That you are the boss and you manage your own time? A community where you are rewarded for writing, journaling and sharing art? Steemit has been life-changing because now I could work less and live more. I could focus on things that really matter to me. These days I’m pretty relaxed with the rewards stuff since I have saved enough to fund my own project and secure myself for the next couple of months. Yeah, I couldn’t believe it myself too. It is just that here on the island the cost of living is very low and there are nice beaches and amazing nature to be happy out. I don’t really participate in all that consumerism thing as I also do not want to contribute more waste to the environment. Yeah I know, I sound like I am almost perfect, ha! I guess I will just continue writing good content or whatever topic that would contribute positivity or pain to your lives. So stick around.

So for me, I've converted every single SBD I've ever earned on Steemit into Steem and then powered up into Steem power. I agree that powering down and not reinvesting the amount you power down is effectively "cheating" your supporters. However, if you're augmenting their investment in you and reinvesting that extra bit you are able to earn, then isn't it effectively proving how much you value their support?

If you're able to "organically" increase your influence on Steemit and share that increased influence with your supporters, is that not the best of both worlds?

I take this a little personally, although I probably shouldn't? since it's an action that I'm currently doing (powering down while Steem is valued higher than I believe it will sustain in order to profit and reinvest fully back into Steemit).

Probably you know some others who are powering down and leaving with the recent increase in value of Steem/SBDs? If so, I'm sorry for them and their supporters. Hopefully their power down is only temporary and they come back stronger and more supportive than ever! ☺️

I've seen a lot of people who powered down and left, probably back when steem was low. Nothing personal lol. I believe in you and that you will share the love. 😊

Yeah, powering down because you lose faith in the Steemit platform (or Steem) before it even really gets a chance to grow (like it is now), seems silly to me. I bet they're all kicking themselves for cashing out so early!

We minnows are going to take over the world!! =D

I'll definitely not be going too far away .. I'm just hoping that I can get some Steem out before the price drops too far =/ .. That way it's worth more when I buy back in! =D

And I'll be happily sharing the added value with all of my friends on here! (P.S. that includes you)

Gosh, I feel happy I am included in your steemit friends. 😊

Thanks! I support your decision.

These are such amazing times for us to be alive, @diabolika!

I have been restless all week due to the many things happening in my world, but especially the cryptocurrency evolving peoples' concepts of what it is to thrive in this crazy place.

Steemit has been (thus far) a short jaunt for me, but I keep buying more steem for myself and trying to learn more and contribute regularly here for the same reasons you've mentioned.

I haven't powered anything down either. Last night just picked up some more steem and am doing a little bit of trading here on the market, in addition to what I've been doing with bitcoin funding my life now. 💘

I know right, I can't believe crypto is making feel empowered atm. Keep it up @intuitivejakob! 😊

BE empowered, @diabolika!! It's a new time for us all!

Thank you!

Your words are TRUTH!

I love to share the truth lol.

more?

  1. FIAT => BTC

lol pokemonpts.

Why not :-)

I try to convince friends and family to join here, too. Some even said they would like to be a writer but they did not join so far....

That is an interesting thought that it is disrespectful to post here and then just power down and sell and I agree with you there. That is why I don't like a couple of youtubers who earn quite well here but don't give a shouout on their channels to steemit.

Let us see what the future brings.

Yeah, I believe in steemit.

You mentioned some good points. If everyone would have power down, no one will gain from it, and the community will probably die this way. It's should be our common interest to keep it alive, so we all will gain from it.

True! Thanks.

my vote is worth 10 whole cents these days! Thanks for all you do.

Awww no worries.

I took a bit of a break and have dipped in and out in terms of activity... but I am definitely in it for the long haul. Its hard to know how it will all pan out but certainly worth staying in the game. Steem on! :)

Welcome back!

Same^^

Welcome back too!

Yeah I Think unless You have a 10 million Steem Power You should not power down. because that is the only way You will keep growing your rewards and also empowering the community as You said and give more power to our loved Steem :D

True, thanks!

You are welcome. You know I will be here for You! Let's keep building up the community.

I’m only powering down to move my seed funding to other coins. But will fill up later. I have a trading system that I have to follow. Good post tho. I believe in steem. And always tell my friends to join.

Thanks! Yeah, I believe in steem too.

I may convert some sbd but I don't plan on powering down ever unless my account becomes excessively big but even then I might as well give some away. Steemit is likely to continue to be a way to connect with the world in bigger ways than old social media so I might as well be here sharing ideas and connecting with others.

Great article, resteemed!

Yeah I converted my liquid steem too but I will stick around with my sp. Thanks for the resteem!

Very nice decision. Steemit platform need more persons like you; true believers..
I would very much like to read your future blog.
Regard @xabi

Thank you.

Welcome:)

It isnt easy being too good to be true, the posers tend to poison the well.
Besides, if it was easy it wouldnt be cool.
