Problems I See With Some Steemit Contests

in steemit •  yesterday

Today I decided to voice some of my opinions. hope you guys won't get offended by them.

Everybody loves to participate in contests. me, no exception. I always try to join as many contests as I can on the Steemit platform. I like to join them because obviously the rewards you can get as well as I believe contests are a great way to get recognized as a new user. Some contests are easy to join while some contests require things I don't like to do.

What are the requirements I don't like to provide?

  1. Selfie
Some art contests require you to post a selfie of you holding your art piece. While it is a good way to identify bots, it makes people like me not join the contest. I don't like to put my pictures on the Internet. I am sure many people have the same thought. You can easily identify and verify the authenticity of the artworks, just by asking to post the artwork as a step-by-step post. please don't make participants post selfies as a mandatory task to be eligible to join the contest.

  2. Country Tag
Don't get me wrong, I love my country just like everyone else. It's my motherland. But I don't like to add country tags to my posts. I feel like that makes my posts get targeted. You know some people don't like certain countries for certain reasons. If your post contains a country tag they don't like, they could downvote your posts for no reason. For crying out loud, Cryptocurrency was made to go beyond geo boundaries. Then why are we trying to make new boundaries? Is it because you are (I don't want to use the R word here) or is it because you want to reward people only from your country? (just asking)

  3. Making People Put @null As A Beneficiary
Again don't get me wrong. I get the idea of setting @null as a Beneficiary to burn some tokens from the circulation. But why make it a mandatory task to join contests? Especially for new users, we need each and every bit of Steem we get to power up our accounts as quickly as possible. Otherwise, new user's votes don't mean a thing. It would be just an upvote with no influential power. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. I think burning tokens should be a voluntary task, not a mandatory task.

That's it guys. Basically what I am trying to say is that when you organizing contests please consider my opinions.

  1. Don't make selfies a mandatory task
  2. Don't make us include country tags
  3. Don't make putting @null as a beneficiary a mandatory task

By doing so I believe you can get more participants in your contests. If you don't want to do that, it's ok. I will just join contests that don't have those requirements.

That's it. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my opinions. And a special thanks to all the contest organizers. You are doing a great job for small creators like me. You are not organizing contests you guys are making opportunities. for that I salute you.
