I generally avoid posts like this one, but I decided to give it a chance. And found that the title is extremely ironic. I suppose you're saying that the low rewards you've received is what is wrong with steemit, but it could also be interpreted as content that is mostly just citing another's work with a video is what is wrong with steemit, or someone pointing the finger in blame of others for their lack of quality is what is wrong with steemit.
As @nonameslefttouse and @whatsup pointed out, there are many people who have worked to earn what they have here, and it is a bit insulting to suggest that anyone who has done well, has done so because they've "kissed ass".
One key element that some users tend to miss is the social aspect. If you are only receiving a handful of votes after being on the platform for months, then not only should you take a look at the quality of your work, but also the time you've spent encouraging and supporting others (or the lack thereof)
I really prefer to be positive when commenting, which is one of the reasons I don't generally open posts like this. Perhaps if you had developed some connections you might have asked what you could do to improve and attract more people to your posts and blog in general. Instead you decide to power down and then make a post taking a shot at steemit on your way out. And it is that last which compelled me to speak, I don't want new users to be disheartened by what you are saying here.
I don't understand what's the problem? The network doesn't instruct anyone to do anything. Contribution is voluntary, reciprocation is voluntary. Votes are stake-weighted.
Exactly and to expand on that idea, when I vote, I vote with the power I have earned over 9 months of being a mediocre blogger. Each stake that I have to vote with is my hard earned stake. Why should a minnow come on board and immediately hold the same influence? If in fact the minnows get the same vote power, why should I continue to "hold" my SP instead of just sell it.
I guess its just a misunderstanding. In an ideal world or limited position venture.. yeah 1 person 1 vote. But the system considers sybil attacks.. hence stake weighted votes..
Or better, give your best in your own terms producing timeless content that somehow cuts through the minds of any readers, whale or not, and somehow perform exceptionally well? That has always been the prize, imo.
Whatever do you mean? Steemit is for making posts about why Steemit is amazing, admiring things wealthier members promote/vote on, and posting crappy photos/poems.
I started with nothing. Earned everything by working on my blog. Now, if I vote for your comment, you'll get 2 cents. Unfortunately, I do not agree with what you're saying, so I will not be voting for it. Much like the post above. I'm not going to waste my vote on whining.
You clearly said one must kiss ass and in another comment, suck dick. So, show me where I kissed ass to get somewhere.
One of the things wrong with Steemit is folks like you coming along to whine and complain. Step up your game if you want to earn something. There aren't any participation awards here.
When you say shit like that, you're lumping all of the actual bloggers into one group and attempting to take away everything they put into their blogs. It's a low blow. If I write something up that people here enjoy and it ends up on the trending page, I'd be happy. Unfortunately, there are whiners like you who just assume they got there by kissing ass.
If you don't want to blog here. Leave. If you feel like working your way up and building up your Steem Power over time, while your peers do the same, what will you say to those who come along wanting a handout and disrespecting everyone else who worked their way up?
People don't have to stay as Minnows forever. Check my wallet. I didn't buy that. Don't try to tell me I kissed ass for it either. That's one damn good way to lose respect around here.
You seem to miss the point. I don't care about the other shit you said. You clearly stated people must kiss ass to get anywhere. So, show me where I kissed ass.
I worked pretty damn hard to be able to give someone like you 2 cents for a comment. Is that not enough? Am I asking you to kiss my ass first?
You want to earn something, while shitting on someone who could pay you. Interesting business model. Everyone who worked to be able to give you a little bit, you want to say they didn't work hard enough?
Encourage your peers to work hard. Work hard yourself. Then help each other out. Nevermind this right now gimme gimme mentality. I'm living proof this place works. Look around. Are you trying to tell me every single person here that makes more than you has kissed ass? Then to top it off, you want your way?
Get real... and just a reminder, I'm addressing your comment about ass kissing. I don't care about this other shit.
I mean that's the fundamental rule of all for-profit content production, tbh.
Of course it's nice when your interests agree with the money-men's, but sometimes you gotta decide if you want to be principled or you want to be paid...

Yes that's pretty much correct. Writing your beliefs in the form of a poem if in doubt works too.
