STEEM Rewards Pool At An All Time High: Over 900,000 STEEM!

in steemit •  6 years ago

Just a couple of weeks ago, STEEM rewards pool (or the amount of STEEM which will be distributed for rewards during the next 7 days) was just below 800,000. Now we crossed 900,000 and the trend is still ascending (screenshot from teem.supply):

Again, I think this is due to:

  1. inability to interact during HF 20 because of a bug in RC, which made the blockchain print tokens while nobody else could actually distribute them
  2. the fact that self-voting in the first 15 minutes sends the curation that would have go to the author to the reward pool instead (I think not many people know about / care about it)

All in all, this is a nice time to post or interact here.

Steem on!

Wanna know when you're getting paid?

I know the feeling. That's why I created steem.supply, an easy to use and accurate tool for calculating your Steemit rewards

It's free to use, but if you think this is a useful addition, I'd appreciate your witness vote.

Thank you!

Up 5% in one day! According to my calculations
I think it will hit 1 million but I'm not for sure.

One if the good things coming out of the HF20

I would also add the fact that voting and commenting "cost" more now, in terms of mana. Although this is probably a longer-term effect compared to the HF20.

Noticed my rewards have been on the up. Would try to post as much as I can

The limit is 1 milj. Right?

Good news. I hope transaction count is building back up. Maybe not raw transactions because that includes spam. Active user count? Hard to find the right stat that doesn't get inflated by spammers.

Good time to harvest a few tokens to make up for the 4 days of inactivity on the blockchain.

It's great! I hope me as a newbie it will help to grow up faster if I will post quality content!

Wow this just keep growing great time for ever steemian who is active :)

Best time to take full advantage. Hopefully I earn one or two major bucks before things come to normal

This could explain why my votes appears to be worth more lately. It's great to give people more with my votes.

Looks like the new voting system of returning it to the rewards pool is really starting to make a big difference. Just shows how much posting with a selfvote was going on

Wow more rewards to go around :)

Yes, that makes sense. The pool keeps filling up, but there were fewer people "swimming" in it because of the voting power and RC issues. I'm sure it will be temporary, but let's enjoy the slight bonus while we can.

Reward pool is filled up to the brim... Soon it will start showering steem on us....yey

I recognize people who makes a lot by self voting is doing after 15 minutes now. I am curious if self voting within 15 minutes means throwing away 25% and just getting 75% but self voting after 15 minutes is gaining 75%+some curation reward?

If you self-vote in the first second, the value of curation is 0. If you vote after 14 minutes and 59 seconds the value of curation is 99%.

There is a reverse auction going on, form 0% immediately after publishing, to 100% after 15 minutes.

Does it make sense?

Yes it does. So self vote is treated as every other votes :)

Does this mean we will receive more SP and SBD than usual ?

Yes

I don’t know if it’s related or not but I noted that I’m getting double the rewards for curation in comparison with pre HF20... and I mainly do the same “strategy”... 🤔

Probably because the rewards pool is bigger combined with the fact that not that many people are curating after HF 20?

Yes...makes sense... but double?

Recently noticed that voting values are increased this made everyone happy more over 15 minutes curation went useless 😂 that makes worry. Hoe in goodness 😊

Is there a way to benefit more from this build up? Or is it just a case of work away as per usual and there will be larger payouts from the usual votes?

This is good news to hear, lets all keep growing fast.

That too, but there might be a third factor we all strive to avoid mentioning or indeed thinking about : the combined effect of 1) a front-end which has barely evolved in more than two years and is now lagging in user-friendliness 2) the lack of any meaningful marketing and community building effort (steemians are "thrown in the water to swim or sink") 3) the rise of competing platforms such as trybe.one which are "peeling users away".

Is this a peak that will smooth out over time? If so, how long might it take?

I am looking forward to HF 20. Thanks to your creativity.
