Steem Supply: New Feature Live - Social Insights, Your Top Supporters And Loyal Followers

in steemit •  7 years ago

After tidying up the code a bit and playing with the calculations, I rolled out the "Social Insights" feature of steem.supply this morning.

Screen Shot 2017-09-07 at 9.42.49 AM.png

As you can see in the screenshot above you can now see who are the most influential (or the "heaviest") supporters, and also who are the ones who are voting you the most (or the "most loyal").

A word about how the supporters "stake weight" is calculated. Each vote, for each post, carry a special metric called "weight", which is - to my knowledge - determined in rapport with the specific post. In other words, "weight" determines how big is the impact of a specific vote for a specific post, regardless of the voting power and weight of the voter. So if a whale is voting with just 1%, the weight for that post may be equal or less than a weight of a dolphin vote with, let's say, 80% voting power. Again, this is how I interpret this metric, if anyone knows differently, please correct me. So, this "weight" is summed up across all votes, to give the total weight, and then individually, for each voter. In the end, a percentage is calculated and the results are ordered descending. That's the reason you will never get 100% when adding the stake weight, but more.

Other features:

  • the results are filtering out your own votes, so even if you're upsteeming your own posts, your account won't be listed here.
  • the total number of voter for that specific window (past 7 days, that is) is displayed at the bottom

As always, looking forward to your opinions, feedback, criticism and suggestions.

That is truly a super-addition @dragosroua, great job!!!

Thanks, appreciated :)

Great to see the new social insights add-on!

Some feedback from my side:

  • "XXX Steemians upsteemed your posts in this time window": would be great to show exactly the time window.
  • Maybe a definition of what supporters and loyals means
  • A clarification if Stake Weight does take also in consideration the SP of each user
  • time window is exactly 7 days (that's the time window in which I'm pulling data, to see the potential rewards)
  • supporters are "your whales", loyals are those who are constantly voting you
  • it doesn't take that into account, only the weight for each specific vote (I may think to add another metric based only on SP of each voter)

thanks for the feedback, will think about the verbiage more

Wow, great job @dragosroua

You are rolling out new features flat out. This is my number one most used tool for steamit and with the rate that you have working on it, I think I will be everyone. You would look into getting it put into the steemit side bar with all the other links.
Keep up the great work, you are doing an incredible job.

Thanks, appreciated :)

Oh that's awesome! I'm adding this blog to my list of useful blogs/sites.

thanks, appreciated :)

And I've voted you as witness too. Well done!

Thank you very much, highly appreciated :)

wow fantastic development @dragosroua, in this way we can actually find out who gives us more votes and also resteemed our content, i have a question should it counts votes only on created blog posts or it also counts the comments votes. thanks for sharing

Only posts, not comments. I will think about how I can add comments too without bloating the UI.

thank you very much, i hope you will find the way to add comments too.

I have a question, would it be possible for steem supply to have a look back? I mean to look back at pasts posts/payouts for reference?

Technically, you can do that. It would defeat the purpose of this specific app, though, which must answer to the question: "when and how much am I going to be paid?". I do think of a more general analytics tool too, and if time permits and if there will be enough interest for it, I will start it at some point.

Thanks for the feedback.

Actually, the name of the app is steem.supply. And a supply can also have a part for historical data...

That is correct, if we take the account the name of the site. If we think at the question that the app must respond, which is "when and how much you will be paid" things can get quite blurry. But I do understand what you're saying and I'm thinking about it...

Thanks for the consideration @dragosroua. I know what you're saying that for this specific app, it only looks at upcoming or a 7-day period.

I believe that the site already or perfectly answers the question when and how much you will be paid. How about answering a related question, "how much was I paid for a certain period?"

The particular use-case I'm looking at is I want to know my baseline. This is so that I get feedback on what I'm doing good (as measure by it's payout) and which one should I stop.

Depending on the posts I made, I want to know which ones made Steem and at what time and day did I make them.

I'm not saying that steem.supply should answer all these, I'm just voicing out for what purpose I'll be needing the said historical data.

As it is, steem.supply already rocks! :)

I understand and this is obviously a very interesting feature. I would certainly use something like this myself. But it does have to take into account historical prices, which is kind of difficult. I have to do a bit of research into this, but thanks for the feedback, I still have a couple of steem-related domains and we'll see which one can be used for something like this, if I ever decide to start such a project.

I understand. If ever you need help, I can help. Just tell me how and when.

'the results are filtering out your own votes, so even if you're upsteeming your own posts, your account won't be listed here.' perfect decision. nice work @dragosroua

ReSteemia
'UpVote ReSteem Comment'

that is very awesome! gonna check it out right now! thanks alot you are doing a great job!

This is really great! Thanks for updating!

i will be your most loyal :)

@dragosroua,
Wow this is a perfect tool and yeah it might deduct number of tools that we have to use with steemit! Great work going on! Really appreciate your great effort on this non-financial development!

Cheers~

@dragosroua - Can you please add steemnow.com features with it too Sir? Then we can use a single platform. Love your work Sir. Therefore, I wish to ReSteem your post.

+W+ [UpVoted & ReSteemed]

Well that was fun, thanks... some metrics to peruse to see your values is a great idea.

Wow this is a fantastic tool.
I just checked it out and the analytics layout is amazing.
It can help you set goals, currently i average only 0.29 posts per day and only 7.71 comments per day!

I need to up all this, posts to at least 1 per day and 10 comments per day.

I have also known my top supporters.
Thanks for this tool.

You're welcome :)

Thanks! Will try this out and return for feedback.

Ok, so it rolled out pretty fast :) Thanks for doing this update, i really find it useful since you can compare the loyalty and the weight of the votes. Keep up the great work, cheers!

Thanks! Also thanks for the witness upvote but it seems you actually downvoted me :)

What do you mean? Because of my rating? In that case it is a fucked up voting system.

Nope, because if you accidentally clicked twice, I think... Have a look here: https://steemdb.com/@dragosroua/witness at the voting section

Damn it, i need to change my mouse. It has a double click problem. Was trying to fix it by disassembling and it worked for a while, but won't be doing it again. The parts are so small, and the metal piece that you need to bend a bit for it to work right is so tiny.... The first Razer product i got disappointing in actually, and it is a gaming mouse so it is supposed to be rock solid. Am i eligible to vote again after some time has passed?

You can vote immediately, if you didn't exhausted your 30 witness votes. Just try.

I just did, hope did not downvote you even further :))

Seems ok now, thanks again :)

I am really enjoying these new features you added. Thanks for the update.

Wooow, this is a useful tool. Thank you!!!

I've been on Steemit for 9 months, and have a fair amount of posts and votes behind me, still it shows nothing for me :-(

It takes into account only the past 7 days. It answers to the question: "when and how much am I going to be paid?". If you don't have posts, it won't have from where to pull the voters data.

Sure, I am well aware of that, and excuse the confusion, but this post is about the new features called "Social Insights". It is that tab that shows nothing, even though I have enough followers and have received plenty of votes.

"Social Insights" are calculated for the same time window.

So it doesn't take into account comments? I comment posts worth 14 USD lasts 7 days.

Not at the moment, just posts.

Thanks for all the effort on this! Really enjoy using it so this is a nice addition.

Great feature!!!!

Great read, thanks!

It's nice a g

It is probably because of the fact that you are making changes and updates and I'd be surprised if you didn't know about it if it's global and not a problem with my connection, but I cannot open your website.

@tippy vote

This is pretty cool. I would say the only thing I don't like is that it's only covering a week. I find the cumulative total displayed at mysteemitfriends.online interesting. Also, I notice on steem.supply the account value is always more than on Steemit wallet. Is steemit just slower or more conservative in estimating the Steem value?

Thanks for sharing.

i made it to the list ;p

You're my hero!
Great job!

Thanks for the post. its nice work @dragosroua

easy too use, very help full, good work..

Not really feeling the floating ads in the middle of the page. Seems a little anti-steemit?

@dragosroua I seem to be having issues with the 'content' tabs on steemsupply... it's only showing information on my last 3 posts (the one's that havn't payed out). Am I doing something wrong? :/
