What you see above is a screenshot of my wallet history. A person sent me a really nice incentive (5 STEEM, whoa, am I gonna be rich, or what?) to write an article about something I have no idea it existed until that very second.
Wow.
Man, this is wrong. It is wrong in so, so many ways.
I'll stop with the irony and move to the educational vibe, because I deeply believe that all people are ok, only their actions, sometimes, are not ok. This action of yours, mr @kinwai was not ok, and here's why. I do hope you will take the time to read this, process it and learn from it.
- no introduction - you acted like you know me forever, not good, not polite, not productive
- you gave me no information about what your product is about and why this would be relevant to me or my followers, you could have as well asked me to write about rice bread or wood processing machines
- you have an account less than a month old on Steemit, yet you're looking to promote products without establishing an audience first - no credibility
- you have only one post, with a little bit over $11, mostly made from investing in reward bots like randowhale or minnowsbooster - lacks credibility, again
And I can go a like this for a long time, but I'll stop here.
Although the slogan of Steemit is "Money talks", the ones who are talking first here are people. And they talk in a polite, educated way.
I kindly and candidly invite you to read the 4 links at the end of my articles, where I try to educate newcomers on the platform about the key points they need to know before fully engaging. Pay attention to the one called "Steemit Newbie FAQ - Netiquette: How To Avoid Being A Steem Douche?".
I don't know you personally, but you seem to have a lot of experience, your profile says you took 5 companies public. Congrats, that's a big achievement. If you did that, I bet you could spend a few hours to learn how this platform works.
Wishing you all the luck in the world with your next projects!
P.S. I made my homework and even went to the website linked as the website of that account and it is a decent (albeit worryingly simple) website about a digital incubator in Singapore. Looks like they got into a co-funding scheme with the Singapore government in which they can help entrepreneurs get some early stage funding. This makes the whole approach even more inappropriate and questionable.
P.P. S. This educational post will probably receive more than 5 STEEM, so please make your due diligence when incentivizing people to support your projects. Do at least that.
I'm a serial entrepreneur, blogger and ultrarunner. You can find me mainly on my blog at Dragos Roua where I write about productivity, business, relationships and running. Here on Steemit you may stay updated by following me @dragosroua.

He's just a spammer, it can be also a bot

Either way, @dargosroua is right, he made 16.14$ in the first hour! So, thanks to @kinwai really for giving you the idea to write a better post haha

Well, for one thing, if he wanted more visits to his account it's quite a good strategy. Damn! I can't beleive I fell for that!
Thanks for the educational post.

Hi @dragosroua
I like your saying
Indeed.
Could that probably be a reason why he wanted you to write a post for him?!
Despite the fact that you are well known and a witness, you make much much much less than other whale and non-whale Steemians (who make 50-500/post)
Maybe he thought you are struggling and you will appreciate the extra Steem. It is funny how people come to Steemit and discover that money talks volumes here, regardless of the contents.
Of course, to people who have been here longer they know that the fact of you making less money/post, only makes you more respected. Because it shows that you are not after an obese wallet full of fast-food garbage.
Thanks for sharing :)

There's a number of socially engineered phishing attacks asking for a few thousand dollars from a Nigerian Prince who will return millions.

I get a few upvote oddities sending me 0.001 , and also a user I must have followed who wanted help because his account got blacklisted. It's just an odd way to contact people using the payment system - would be much more simpler to just reply to one of their posts!

you could be a busy boy writing everybody's blogs for them, at only 5 steem a time.Get in a new shipment of midnight oil, you are going to need it, if he has his way.
I am sure the Singapore govt would sooner pay Singaporeans than overseas writers

Thanks for highlighting such, let's take every mistake as a learning opportunity. First mistake doesn't count; a repeated mistake does lead to bad habits.
