    Because the value of something is based on people's willingness to buy it! It works like stock... when you sell it you have to accept what someone else will pay, and that is less now...

    In 2011, bitcoin went up to $32 ! Then fell to $2. In 2013, it goes over $1000. Now (2016), we are at $600. Cryptocurrencies are volatile.
