Not sure if joining Steemit now makes me a latecomer, or still in the initial wave. My adoption of various social platforms has usually been when the platform starts to offer something of use to me. Consider the initial rise of blogging: when it was about some teenager's diary, my interest was nil. But when authors in areas of IT Methods and Systems started blogging, I came aboard. These were people who previously wrote articles in print magazines like Datamation and Computerworld, or that I saw present at conferences. After I while, I started to offer my own entries to the blogosphere, at https://businessanalysis56.blogspot.com/ .
Same thing with Twitter and other wide-sharing platforms. Also on Linked In, of course. Tried MySpace early on, mostly for my personal interest in music, but went to Facebook when my almost-grown children told me about. Despite its problems, still best way I keep track of family who are spread out in the world.
But, now here on Steemit, breaking the mold of my social media adoption. Given the likely slower adoption of block-chain in the technology of the industry I work in (although it could surprise me), Steemit seemed the best way to actually try something. I have no expectations, so anything useful is a bonus. I will be looking for folks I follow on other platforms to see if they are here yet, and what that means if they are. I may also blog about personal interests that are not in the popular realm, like drumming in a pipe band or map-based war games... so, let's go.
