A fireball seen in the sky in several cities of Bahia intrigued residents on Tuesday night (20/2). A glare in the sky was perceived in cities of the interior and of the coast of Bahia, around 22.30, but lasted a few seconds. The phenomenon raised several speculations in social networks. "I saw the time. In the first minute I thought it was the 'end of the world'," a woman from Conceição do Coite, 200 km from Salvador, commented on Facebook.
The sky monitoring camera of the Brazilian Meteorological Observation Network (Brampn) recorded the strong light. According to the Brazilian Marcelo Domingues, responsible for three monitoring stations in the Federal District, there is no reason to boast, and what scared the population of Bahia was only a meteor of high luminosity. "It was a relatively large meteor that entered the atmosphere and started to burn towards the sea, and it was very bright," he says.
