Something Extraordinairy is Happening... Steemit: through the EcoKnowMe lenssteemCreated with Sketch.

in steemit •  7 years ago

I wanted to share my thoughts on a few things that are happening in the world that we might not be noticing and why we should start to pay attention and channel our energies better.  Information can change your life, your likes and dissolve problems, sometimes just from reading an article!

So what's Going on and how might it apply to the developments within the Steemit Community?

1.  The Internet is creating a global village of informed people

I don't think I need to go into this one too much, but is anyone else really impressed by how much more direct and free Steemit seems compared to other platforms?  Have you noticed changes in your world view or is your sense of community stretching to include people in places you never imagined you'd be connecting with online?  In addition to being able to Google or youtube a topic, living breathing humans and their bots are now available to answer questions and help each other out by helping each other out (comment and like if you feel ;) ).  You can literally just ask the world for help.  That's normal now.

2.  A new de-centralized model is halting unabated consumerism

I just came across @steemshop and reading the comments and excitement from people who are getting frustrated with ebay, etsy, amazon, shopify and other sites that seemed great but still can't compare to the ease of peer to peer exchange within a Social Media Platform supported by its own Block chain Cryptocurrency.  Like if craiglist, fb and bitcoin had a really well raised, love child.  What happens when the final chains come off and we are actually free to trade with each other?

3. A better work model is emerging

Anyone enjoying the ease of being able to create original content from your living room?  I think as our jobs become automated or lost to efficiencies, we will all start to have a lot of time on our hands and finding ways to maintain our humanity while doing something meaningful will be the way we volunteer to help each other organically and without need for control systems.  Be yourself, follow your bliss and people will probably support you to see what you do.  Being yourself could be the new dream job we

4. We have access to healthy food again

So many people are able to learn how to grow their own food, find better quality organic produce and share directly with one another.  The seed produces many more seeds and abundance is thy nature.  Once we reach a critical mass in the global consciousness regarding how we can heal ourselves our communities and soils using local regenerative agriculture practices, there will be more than enough for everyone.  In fact, many argue there already is enough, we just don't spread it around very well, plus most of it is produced unsustainably anyway.

Projects like @foodisfree and @gardenofeden  are already showing how this is possible.  Rob Greenfield Geoff Lawton, Curtis Stone, Jean Martin Fortier and Growing Power  are all showing how easy it can be for us to meet our nutritional needs LOCALLY using today's best information, techniques and technologies.  Food IS Free, if you know how.

5. We don’t have to be manipulated by mainstream news media anymore

One person I came across on here is @pressfortruth who has joined Steemit from a solid YouTube channel which he still maintains.  It was his video about Steemit that made me curious enough to see what all the fuss was about.  Hearing some of the differences he has noticed on here and the many challenges content creators are dealing with on increasingly less than ideal terms with other sites, increasingly make Steemit the ideal platform for anyone wanting to share their take on what is happening in the world.  News is news, right?.  The TV is unnecessary and limited compared to the whole world emerging online.  Who wants to listen to what sounds like propaganda when you can do your own research or hear the research of others?  We are all entitled to our opinions, but we should also be able to share them, without censorship.  Let the people decide, as we always do.

Anything else you thought should be included?

The content was heavily borrowed from this article you might like, but I wanted to apply the ideas to what is happening right here on Steemit.  Lemme know your thoughts and anything I might have missed.   What changes have you been noticing in the world but maybe couldn't put your finger on til recently.... Did either of these articles resonate with you?

Just like taking care of are power needs. I have seen where even solar has been shaking up even small town all over SC.. I try to make all I can/ It;s nuts not ever 12 years ago solar was a joke.

So true! and everyone knows it works, is great and does everything you need. Is NC helping people to get on Solar or is it difficult for people to get installed? I saw a doco about what is happening in Nevada and it is like they know they can't compete, so they are trying to make people think Solar isn't viable. Ha! in Nevada?

Sorry did I Say NC.. Opps it's SC. No there not. We have a lot of BS laws that block solar. We are one of the big nuc power states. They tend to have a lot of cash. That is why I am out there doing what I can. Hell I live on a income of 720 bucks a month. If not for my solar I could not pay my power bill.

It is crazy to think that we are forced to pay for something that every roof is wasting. We spend our money trying to heat, cool and power our homes, having to leave them usually to go work for money to feed these inefficient beasts.... meanwhile, the solution smiles overhead. I commend you @solarparadise !, you are miles ahead, in my opinion :)

Thank you!!

Almost to the day, since I started the adventure of this new world, we have been having intermittent internet outages...sometimes for many hours, sometimes for minutes. The static on the phone is so loud I can't hear or be heard. When it happens I realize how much the internet has come to mean to me and the frustration over not being able to be connected to others all over the world and share their experiences.

I really dislike the way cell phone use has taken over people's lives so they can be with real people, having real experiences, and yet be on the phone. Once when I was taking a walk in the woods I met up with three young fellows who were all using their phones while walking. I started a conversation and they all put their phones away and we continued walking along conversing. I do hope that they could see how very odd it is to be connected to others by phone when actually spending time outside, in a beautiful setting, with friends.

I only ever watch TV during football season but with the internet down so often we turned it on just to get the weather for the day. It really is boring to have to listen to the local news for so long until it is finally time for the weather. To say nothing of those long minutes of advertising!
My greatest loss when the crunch comes will be the internet.

maybe if we all connect with our own blockchain technology and decentralized communication systems, we can still enjoy the best of what we filtered from the internet with each other and rebuild. your comments resonated with me and I'm glad you were able to slice off some screen time for others and (hopefully) remind them of the life they are already living. It's hard to imagine what we now call the internet will be like in even a few years. But hopefully the crunch doesn't come in the way we think it will, maybe just a downsizing of the excess we no longer need (big companies managing our lives online for us) hopefully steemit will be able to evolve to meet those needs as they get closer to being realized. Thanks @bchick for sharing :) Also, if you are in Victoria, do you know anyone who has a house available for August? I have a famous artist friend who will be doing an installation downtown working with Indigenous Women to tell their story. Her name is Shiv Shilo Suleman if you wanna check her out and her group is called The Fearless Collective. Just thought I'd ask.....

Sorry, I am in New Hampshire.
I love your writing and lifestyle. You have shown so much of your world and world view and that has opened my eyes.
Who could have thought 10 years ago that we would be where we are now in the world.
Everything keeps escalating more and more rapidly so that by next year, when we will have been in the steemit community for a little more than one year, it will be hard to remember today.

But we all still need food and that is what I can share in my local area.
Want to come by this fall for a virtual apple picking day? Today we are offering sour cherries and sweet raspberries.
Next week the green and wax beans will be available.
The week after that a variety of peppers will be ready for harvesting.
And we have more eggs than we can use that are so wholesome and rich and yellow.
Come by and see my little world.

Yum! Sounds delish! will certainly stop by. I must've gotten my wires crossed figuring out whom is whom, still making connections of faces, places and stasis. I wish I had too many eggs! Getting farm quality is unpredictable offline here, easier to just have your own hens :/

NOT easy having chickens here. I just stopped the whole thing about free ranging them as of all 11 we have ever had only one is left. Lee, my poor lonely chicken.
Since I have put her in the chicken house and only allowed her, with her newly clipped wing, access to the run I have found a snake in the coop with her and yesterday a groundhog in the run with her. She makes me more and more nervous.
At least I am getting a lot of exercise running out to check on her loud squawks throughout the day.
Build another one of the tire based living quarters, safe as you can make it, before you get those chicks!

Hope she fairs well, but she seems to be in good company! Maybe when the new HQ comes, they can have a club! For ladies that don't give a cluck, Or Tired house, Sprightly Chicks HQ. Someone told me about a chicken house/ greenhouse combo that works really well. fertilizer, warmth, CO2 and plant leftovers endlessly cycling with eggs as a side effect.

At this point I would say this option: For ladies that don't give a cluck
We can start a new community!

Next chicken house I will get one like in the video below. It gets really cold here in the winter and then the water could be kept inside and not freeze...wouldn't need electricity to keep it warm.

Agreeed.

Everything? Or was there something in particular you agreed with?
