Have you received this Steemit Error Message?

in steemit •  8 years ago

I tried to reply to someone's reply to my comment on their blog post and got the following message everytime I clicked 'POST':

Transaction failed: !check_max_ block_age( max block_ age ): DISMISS

Has anyone else experienced this? I was just typing text (no GIFs or images). Worse yet, when I tried to create THIS post, I got the error message too. If you're reading it now, it means I managed to get it through using Busy.org. I'm adding an image to this post so people will be more likely to see it but I'd really just like to know what caused the problem.

I've read other posts from people who have clicked send only to realise that all (or most) of the content they'd just worked on had vanished. I tend to type my posts elsewhere and paste them into Steemit when I'm ready to post so I never really worried about that. I'm not an alarmist but I figured I'd mention encountering this in case I did anything wrong to cause it or it's something that might start affecting other users.

Steem on...

same here .... just log out ... then log in ..solved .... Reasons for which this happened I don't know.

@indepthstroy

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

...although it appears to have spontaneously fixed itself seeing as I didn't use Busy.org to reply just now. Hm...

I'm no programmer, but perhaps the post may have been too old to post a reply to? Or perhaps there was a slowdown and it took too long to add the data to the block and it timed out? The age of the block was too old.

Perhaps a couple of hours ago, I tried to upvote a post and all I got was a circling icon around the upvote icon, then it timed out. I tried switching pages, but then my feed page wouldn't load. I logged out and back in and I still had trouble. So I logged out again and then closed my browser before logging back in. THAT fixed it.

I had commented, the author of the post replied to my comment and maybe half an hour later I tried to reply to that (so I don't think it was the post's age). I might try logging out then logging back in next time but I'm glad to have Busy.org as a backup plan 🙂

Thanks elementm, you keep feeding me these great little bits of knowledge! It looks like busy.org is another portal to Steem. Do you log in with the same credentials?

I'm so glad I'm following you!

I'm glad I can help! What little I know comes from the Steemians who share info constantly. You can use the same credentials for Busy.org (and I think posting from there doesn't require as much Markdown knowledge). Enjoy!

Wonderful! I'll have to check it out then.
I must say that I'm really loving it here. Lots to learn and great people!
Thanks again!

No problem, Steem on!! 😀

This post and the links at the bottom of it are chockerblock full of information! I just spent about 2 hours reading it all. Thought I would share it with you since you have been so kind to me. https://steemit.com/steem-help/@sykochica/answering-common-questions-i-m-getting-frustrated-are-my-expectations-too-high
