Let’s do more with and for steem!steemCreated with Sketch.

Steemit is awesome. I enjoy it and I believe in it but I’ve noticed something that could strengthen the community if we focused on it more. I’ll be getting back to that after a few paragraphs so please bear with me if I seem to be rambling. I promise this will make sense before the end.

As I understand it, aside from buying steem directly we have three main options: creation, curation and contests.

Content Creation
Creating content comes more naturally to some of us than others. It’s clear that some people have been very successful with it but for new Steemians who aren’t used to blogging, it can be tough to figure out. I once had a blog. I made it to about three posts before I gave up on it so I think I fall into that category. It’s not that I feel like I have nothing of value to share with the world, I’m just not used to opening up like that on a regular basis so my consistency suffers. And of course some of us create content that isn’t widely appreciated.

Content Curation
Curation is a lot more intuitive but when you’re a minnow, the rewards are fairly low. Sure, it’s possible to purchase more Steem Power but we don’t all have enough disposable income to do that. It’s been said repeatedly: don’t put money into crypto that you can’t afford to lose. As such, some of us tend to remain in minnowhood for much longer than others.

Contests
Contests are fun. Really fun. I enjoy them immensely but they’re even more unreliable than posts as a revenue option. You can’t win EVERYTIME but even if you do, your revenue can dry up completely if the contest stops being offered.

Returning to the topic of this post, we all have things we need and things we can offer. What if every time we needed something we asked the Steemit community to submit offers before seeking someone who only accepts fiat money? What if those of us with skills and time listed all the services we’d be willing to provide for steem? What if we made an effort to list products and services on Peerhub, OpenBazaar and whatever other sites can facilitate steem-based transactions?

A few other users have been using the hastags work4steem and steemjobs on posts about their services. Let’s do more of that. It would allow steem to circulate more and people with more diverse skill sets could benefit. I know there are all sorts of things in the works that I’m not nearly techy enough to understand but this can be done from the ground up if enough of us are interested.

Thanks for reading my longest post ever. Please upvote, follow, resteem and/or comment. I’ll be posting my services soon!

This is fabulous @elementm! Thank you for such a great post!

I will be posting more about the services I offer also, to start however, I have been including a little blurb on all of my posts after my signature, to sort of "get my feet wet" <3

Happy Steeming and Much Love!!!! Reiki Blessings!!

Thanks (for both the comment and the blessings)! The blurb is a great idea because people get a chance to see it with every post you create. I hope it works out and happy steeming to you too!

Thanks jimy74! It's not that I have trouble writing, it's more that I have trouble staying motivated and adding posts to a blog regularly. I'm glad you liked this post and welcome to Steemit :)!
