I am getting concerned that all of these new accounts will get pushed aside by the tide and never get the chance to swim in the great big ocean. We need a way to distribute the rewards a little better to those who are small and growing to build steemit further in the coming months and years.

So far it's been mostly okay. One site (Giffgaff phones) didn't want to take it (reasons unknown), but I've used it on Amazon, Paypal and in various shops. Their charges seem reasonable to me. It's cool to spend what I have earned here

232/1000 is powering down, on http://steemdown.com total value of 1.7 million dollar is being powered down. However that is based on: 56/200

What is the total value of steem powering down right now?

Is it possible to figure out at what level of power down the price of steem becomes negaitvely affected versus the buying power steem has?

If so, should we not stop people from allowing to powerdown.
Or increase 13 weeks to give steem a better chance.
Powering down imo should have a minimal effect on price of steem as people that power down don,t want steem to plummet.
But there are no safegaurds right now which troubles me.

Anyone has ideas/ counterarguments?

It is even necessary that the big boys are powering down, like this we will have a better distribution...

I totally agree, but I think that the system probably can only handle so much liquid steem coming in in 13 weeks.
Some of that liquid steem will be sold off when it comes on the market and that will decide the price of Steem versus the buying interest during those 13 weeks.
When we have a couple of months of increased power downs versus let's take the moet positive case same amount of buy interest the price will drop.
When the buy interest is lower then normal, the price will drop harder.
We don't know where that limit is right now as to how much the current system can handle.
It depends on the health of the economy. Yet we are putting our eggs in 1 basket (13 weeks)
That will hopefully do the trick, well I would love to believe that 13 weeks is ok, but right now the system is pretty stable at current amount of power down. So maybe I am wrong but how will the price of steem look like if now 2x as much steem power is being powered down. Do you think the price will drop? How bout 3/4 times?
Where is the limit before it collapses on itself.

Now does steemit has a better chance to survive if the 13 weeks becomes variable based on the health of the system, I would say yes.
So who came up with 13 weeks what were the major reasons and how do we know there is a safegaurd against too many power downs happening.

The thing that bothers me is that power downs should have aminimum influence on the price of steem because otherwise we never know what will happen to price of steem. To many variables. So reducing 1 variable ie. changing the time it takes dependant on health of the market makes sense for everyone.

Maybe I am missing something please let me know so I can safely buy more steem 😄
