I would say the number of new accounts doesn't reflect the amount of people signing up for Steemit. I have two friends, which have signed up over a week ago and are still in the waiting line. It's probably more to do with Steemit's decision on how many new they let on the platform each day.
The ever increasing numbers of daily unique visitors which you can see in this report also indicates that the platform is gaining in popularity.

Guess a lot have to do with the BTC Hard Fork, people are scared that the same happen to BTC as it did to ETH last year ( ETH/ETC) so if a lot of them go back to FIAT and wait until the Hardfork is done, markets go down....

I think that's probably because BTC is considered to be the closest thing to a gold standard or blue chip company for crypto. There are probably more people willing to hold that compared to the alts.

I think for the short term right now the price of Steem might rise a little bit. However, after looking at the longer term charts for Steem, it appears that we should be trending a little more downwards for a short while. I think maybe the lowest we can go is .75 but there is major support at the $1.00 level per Steem.

If I have to guess, probably around $.98 cents though it's hard even to pinpoint a level. The BTC uncertainty for August 1st should make the market trend sideways with a tilt towards slightly lower. That's my best guess though
for all I know it might go back to $1.60 in a month. I'm still planning on buying more if it goes down again as I expect it to. By the end of year, I am suspecting the price of Steem to be around $3.00.

I'm hopeful that this is the bottom price! I was getting scared when it dropped a bit below $1 today, but it seems to have a bottom floor at around that price, so that's good. At least this gives us a good opportunity to buy some more Steem for cheap ;)
