My first thoughts on Steemit

As a young mind i find the internet a great place to find/do pretty much anything, but when someone tells me i can make money simply from writing blog posts, or even simply by upvoting someone else's post, i tell them to be real, because let's face it.. To a regular person that sounds ridiculous! So when i was told about Steemit.com i was interested from the first second.

The thought of being able to make money sat from the comfort of your own home, while posting about anything is something we've probably thought about in our lives, but the opportunity to do so always has remained so slim. This is one of the reasons i think Steemit has been so controversial and popular since release, within days of release there were already so many people eager to hop on, start writing a post and start earning money, but is it the love of a good read, or the greed for money thats driving this website through the roof and making it as popular as it is today? I personally love the thought of Steemit more for the love of reading article after article, then the fact that money can be earnt (But it's certainly not pushing me away!) but in my personal opinion i think the site has gained its mass popularity due to the idea of earning money through the use of bitcoins.
Now don't get me wrong, the money earning is great seeing as earning money by getting a job in the 21st century isn't all that easy to do, but is this the only reason Steemit has grown as popular as it is? Personally i think this is the reason behind it's popularity, but i don't disagree that even without the idea of earning money through it that it would still be fairly popular amongst the blogging community.

Thankyou to all that have read my first post, i hope to write more in depth posts, and hopefully some longer posts!
