Friend Blocked Me On Fbook Because I Raved About Steemit

It's only my first week on Steemit, and I have generated about $100 between all my posts.

Out of pure excitement, I made a post about it on Facebook, encouraging my friends to join, because why let Facebook make money on our own content?!? As a content producer, I fucking detest the concept more than anything, and I fucking LOVE Steemit for the same reason. I see Steemit as a revolution, a completely new paradigm for content creators. The way it should have been from the start.

So one of my friends in Australia assumed my post was pyramid scheme-ey because I told my friends to join. He then publicly wrote on my post that someone probably hacked into my account because I would never write a post like that. I responded on the post and said:

"Michael, It's me! Steemit.com is the way to go - Facebook makes billions off of our collective posts. It's time to take our power back and move social media culture to a place where we receive the benefits."

My friend still wouldn't believe it. He wrote another comment asking if anyone has my phone number so he could call to let me know that my account has been hacked.

I then took a selfie at my desk (so he could see I was there at my computer) and private messaged him to explain why Steemit is cool and to let me know if he had any questions. I also said it would be great to catch up.

The dude fucking blocked me on Facebook.

Is it such a foreign concept to receive monetary benefits from content that we create?!?

My question to all of you -- please, if you know of any good video tutorials, or great articles that are short and to the point as to why Steemit rocks (and why it's not a scam), please leave the link in the comment below. I'd like more info to share with my friends so they can soak it in without accusing me of being shady. Videos are preferable, but good articles are appreciated too.

I'm still shocked that my friend would block me because I'm excited about Steemit. Unbelievable...

i have the same as soon as open my mouth about it they say it is a pyramide and a bubble that will explode, being blonde i think everything is possible but what i love is that i read articles without any advertisment, and that is just great. About all kind of subjects there allready is written, and invites you to answer to it or complete it. I find this much nicer working as facebook. I am two weeks on steemit now and am hooked to a few writers, and i love the contests. I do not know where it will end, but so far i post all my blogs also on fb. Just to try to get more people here without pushing :-) cause i do miss my friends. :-) Appareantly it seems easier to click on i like button than upvote. And that i find a miss here.

We're in the same boat, but I'm sure they'll all come running one of these days. ;-) So nice to meet you here. xo

Haha doesn't sound like much of a friend. Or maybe he works for Facebook ;)

Seriously...

I think your friend might just be in serious denial...

A little while back @jerrybanfield made a short youtube ad that could be of use... Let me see if I can find it...

Yeah... I'm getting that a lot with crypto in general. Of course :-P

People deny what they can not comprehend.
It's odd that he was being such a good friend to try and protect you and then wouldnt give you a chance to actually hear want you were raving about.

All I can say... His loss.
Maybe he will come around oneday.

True that.

lm sorry to hear..... but t hey! they are missing out big opportunity😉

Thanks.

Well, I can understand that sometimes the Steemit experience can get a little too good to believe and so it might seem unreal at times. Also, it might be possible that your friend had a different experience on this platform or a different one that rewards posting and he's now a bit skeptical to such things.

It's not always easy to understand a whole new concept. I've been resisting registering to facebook myself for years, without really knowing what it was and without wanting to know what it is. And I don't regret my narrowmindedness on that subject :)

For sure. It's just a paradigm shift, but I'm not the type to shut the door so fast on something new. Unfortunately, some people instantly respond with negativity. That's too bad.

$100 in a week on Steemit? Teach me how sensei!!

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink!

Some people will not consider change, even if it is in their own self-interest!

Frustrating, isn't it.
It's the same as some people refuse to "get" cryptocurrency. They say it's a bubble or a ponsy scheme.

Lolx @ering. its his or her loss. a very fat loss. just chill ther

he'll come back when is worth $100 and people are making $1000's posting on steem lol
Joking aside, this is where creating credible brand recognition with marketing is useful.
congrats on your accomplishments here :-)

Thanks ;-) Hope you're enjoying it as much as me.

seems to be the nature of the block chain. nobody wants in on it until its almost too late. ive posted on facebook about it too. so far. convinced 4 people to join.everyone says they dont have time for it. and then post on facebook to never get any returns from it... duh?

Thanks for sharing!

He blocked and he missed an opportunity that’s what happens when telling skeptics about unknown and possible amazing opportunities.
If he was a friend he first of all wouldn’t publicly write on your post, he would first message you privately and do it.

Yeah... Pretty lame. Not too bummed - was never a close friend.

It’s the close ones that always do this, anyway I hope your okay after this is while debacle.
