Should I stay or should I go? πŸ€”

After 6 months on Steemit, I have hit a brick wall. Some of my earlier posts on yoga and meditation did well and were picked up by @curie. My interest however, has been focused on mostly artists and motivational writers on steemit.

Since hardfork19 it is apparent that I have not found my niche on steemit and that my interest is beginning to wane. I very much enjoyed taking part in the steemgig challenges which has made me realise that it was the community and giving aspect which I appreciated most.

I recently decided to set myself a three month challenge to declutter unwanted possessions by the end of October. I have a roomful of unwanted clothes, toys, DVDs etc and I have begun to sort these to give away to various causes. There is a children's hospice charity which is the main beneficiary alongside my son's primary school, where fundraising benefits the children.

I have also recently started a new job which requires that I spend a lot of time travelling around in my car and any spare time has become more precious, with my family needing me most.

It is reading posts by other Steemians about the lack of positive engagement on steemit coupled with the unscrupulous activities that @sherlockholmes and others have uncovered that has made me question whether I still have the motivation to contribute to steemit in the longer term.

I have decided to power down some of my steem for the first time and spend it on a few necessities and treats for my family.

I have gained much from engaging on steemit over the past 6 months and intend to keep dipping in and posting occasionally but I am hopeful that my inspiration returns. Any thoughts or ideas out there? @fleur πŸ’‘

Steemit is a great idea. The problem is, it's only as good as the people using it. I've been having somewhat the same doubts lately. After over a year of posting my art daily, I get little support for it. It's discouraging. I had hope that my blog would "take off" but it hasn't. If it weren't for Curie, some bots upvoting my posts, and a few loyal Dolphins, I'd have given up long ago. Art is always a hard sell so I shouldn't be surprised, really.

I think you are doing really well on here. I always look forward to seeing your artwork πŸ™‚

Thanks @fleur. You're one of very few. My blog is going nowhere. Support for it has been about the same for many months. The number of followers keeps increasing but it means almost nothing because they're all minnows who expect me to follow them back. I get no support from whales. This sounds like I'm whining but I'm not. I appreciate what little support I do get but I'm also looking at it realistically and basing my expectations on that. I'll keep posting, however. I've merely adjusted my thinking about Steemit based upon my experience.

I think success is always relative and that as a dolphin, you are a success story here. I am amazed that you have produced so much beautiful artwork! On a side note, it's a little odd that you have received 22 votes on your comment over and above my vote, as heartfelt as your comment is πŸ€”

Spend time with your family, power down if you need the money, but don't stop posting. I always enjoy seeing you in my feed and comments. Dont get burnt out though, find a way to re-energize!

Thanks for your encouragement. I enjoy seeing your posts too πŸ™‚

I totally get what you saying. Almost feels like the honeymoon is over on steemit.

I hear you...I still remember the first weeks here I saw many posts from you. I have a similar feeling...I'm still trying, but dunno until when. If it were not for the @cervantes project that has been supporting me since the beginning, I would have already give up weeks ago...

I'm also an artist, and a yogi. And I'm mainly posting about my art.
There is a bad usage of tags as well, that makes it even more difficult for your posts get the right visibility and really fit into the niche.

Hope to see you back. That would mean we are both here and Steemit has become the greatest place!
Good luck friend!

Thanks for your support πŸ™πŸ½

This network is so big, I didn't even know Sherlock Holmes used this site let alone you. I try to check the "new" tab more than any other tag I check on the site and I run into a post like this, and maybe you haven't found a niche that will fit you who seems to be growing irl, you blog doesn't have to be one thing all the time, maybe you travel and share photos for a while, I haven't checked your blog yet so maybe you already do this lol, I am just brainstorming. Participate in more contests art or photography related for fun here on Steemit. Stay away from soap opera drama on blogs. I wish you well in your journeys online and elsewhere.

Edit not edit: Before hitting post I went ahead and checked your blog, you got good posts, I hope you find your inspiration again that you got you using the site in the first place, hopefully it wasn't solely financial, it doesn't seem to be.

Always sad to see a good steemian leave, or atleast lower their activity. Fare well, my lady.

And if that title is really a question you're asking us, then my answer would obviously be that you should stay!

this post sounds EXACTLY what i am feeling right now, uncanny.
