You probably mean Steem Power or Steem. Steemit is just the frontend you are using and not a currency. I would recommend you to buy Steem and power up to convert it into steem Power. Steem power is just steem locked into your account and it takes a while to get it out of there.
So increase your steem power at the beginning.
