South America convulses.

Difficult times are lived, times of social turmoil, the news of the world quickly review what is happening in our continent, today Latin America is reeling from the growing conflicts in the different countries that make up its geography.

Source

From the northern part to the south, starting with the political and social crisis in Venezuela, a crisis that has caused the greatest exodus of Venezuelans recorded our homeland history, through the corruption scandals in Brazil, the protests that have caused Colombia the government implements curfew in some cities of the country including Bogota, the protests in Chile that have been taking some time and that has taken the lives of many people.

What to say about Bolivia and the resignation of President Evo Morales accused of winning the elections for electoral fraud, a situation that led him to request political asylum in Mexico, where he is at the moment, today the protests in this South American country do not stop and the fallen in the middle of the protests are counted by tens.

Causes.

What is happening in South America? Why are people mutiny?

I would like to be able to read your analysis of this situation, which effect I dominate, is affecting the entire region, in a behavior similar to that shown by the Middle Eastern countries in the so-called Arab Spring, which unleashed several conflicts in these countries.

Perhaps what we are experiencing is a consequence of a world economic crisis that is underway, or we must attribute this behavior to the governmental political malpractice of men who use power irresponsibly and fraudulently, putting whole countries in check, moved by some kind of ideology in particular that many times insist on introducing in a forced way.

Whatever the origin of this matter, I believe that we must pay attention to everything that happens on this side of the world because perhaps you can be a consequence of the collapse of the world economy, where the most vulnerable countries suffer the worst consequences.

Conclusions

Perhaps for us now it is very difficult to predict what will happen in the near future, what I dare to say is that the governments of our area must radically change their populist economic policies to implement measures that generate wealth to our nations, investments that generate dividends and not continue to depend exclusively on our natural resources.

It is necessary to invest in education, in industry, to bet heavily on agriculture, to technify the fields, to invest in scientific research to improve economic performance, so that our peoples have quality of life, jobs that allow them to have a decent purchasing power , that there are opportunities for entrepreneurs etc, etc, etc.

Friends let me know your opinion about this issue that is affecting our countries .

Several months ago I made a post about electoral systems with blockchain technology.

Currently in South America there is great dissatisfaction because the population feels cheated or disappointed by their rulers. The word "FRAUD" is in everyone's mouth.

A consultation system based on a digital accounting book, with distributed, unalterable, public and 100% auditable technology, would greatly solve these situations.

Consultative referendums, presidential elections, could be counted transparently.

Surely no politician is willing to take this risk.

Hello dear @juanmolina, thanks for your comment.

Several months ago I made a post about electoral systems with blockchain technology.

Indeed, I remember that publication perfectly, I remember dropping a comment saying that in our case politicians would not agree to try a system like that.

In any case, the political system in South America is very corrupt or the world political system could say, morality, respect and good practices have been lost and as a result we have all this deterioration and widespread discontent.

Evil is on the rise my dear Juan, evidence of the veracity of writing. "Because evil has multiplied, the love of many will grow cold," says the Bible.

I am a fan of Cardano project and what they start doing is cooperating with several countries in Africa by their framework Atala, which will bring to those countries few new advantages of the new blockchain/technology era.

They will build for them new electronic cash (not as open as Bitcoin, but this is not the point), help with e-identity, tracking food supply chains etc, it might also help with the transparency and governance in the future or for countries which will want to use it. It might also help with the corruption in some way due the transparency level, which each government will want to implement.

They aim to connect their world with cryptocurrencies like Cardano or Bitcoin by this first step. For the people will be then easier to understand, use and also purchase cryptocurrencies. Maybe Cardano for the first time, so this could also help Cardano price in the future. They didn´t want to start doing this by talking to US Congress or some already developed country, because there could be bigger need for this in countries like Ethiopia.

But then, in a few years, when every other country including South America countries will see how this work and that it really solve some problems, they might want to cooperate with Cardano team to implement those tools also.

So I see some solutions, but they will not come tomorrow. Firstly, we need to wait that those countries will implement those tools and then we can see, if it really works or not. Then it can help other countries, which will want to use it of course.

Hi @ritxi, thanks for participating.

It seems like a very well-intentioned project that could help solve some problems, logically, there must be the willingness of governments to implement it.

In our countries the use of cryptocurrencies is increasing, this is mainly due to the distrust of people in the political and economic system of each nation, in addition to this, the freedom generated by blockchain is very attractive.

In Venezuela, particularly, the government is committed to increasing the use of cryptocurrencies, facilitating a platform trying to boost the state cryptocurrency Petro, it has even been said that they want to base the economy on this currency but we still have to wait for the results of this.

Latin America is an area with quite a history of political instability, I still remember the question that there was a year when a country in the region had 3 or 4 four presidents ... and all due to military uprisings . Although I did not find it funny, I have to give Cantinflas credit for having made it seem like a laugh, in his film "His Excellency" (1967)

But, it is not necessary to go very far back to find even in the 21st century that there was a strong economic crisis that led one of our neighbors to have about 3 presidents in a matter of a couple of years, being that they either resigned or deposited them.

What do we need to have greater stability? A change in policies may be necessary, to put aside so much populism, to try to control shameless corruption, to show (or at least pretend very well) an interest in the welfare of the population and their social and economic improvement.

But, the political caste has already assumed the most negative features of populist politics as part of its "cultural heritage" and removing so many decades (centuries in some cases) of misconduct is a task that goes from difficult to impossible.

Hello dear teacher @pedrobrito2004, it is definitely a pleasure to read each of your comments, they are not wasted.

Much reason in what he writes, populism and corruption seem to be the evils of our region, people opt for public office in order to benefit or enrich themselves, finally there is the intention to do something for the country.

But, the political caste has already assumed the most negative features of populist politics as part of its "cultural heritage" and removing so many decades (centuries in some cases) of misconduct is a task that goes from difficult to impossible.

Hahaha it is not to laugh but it really is a deep-rooted culture and I am glad to know that not only I think so, it is something unfortunate but it is our reality.

Thank you Professor.

You're Welcome, Friend!

I believe every region has its own peculiar challenges and Latin America is not an exception. In Africa here, we largely struggle with corruption and bad politics. Corrupt leaders embezzle public funds everyday, make policies that will favour them and let the poor people suffer. We cannot help it. So Latin America also struggles with conflicts which the poor largely suffers too. I hope the leaders would one day realize the effects of their decisions everyday.
