The increase in account creation is indeed good news. New juice is what Steemit needs. With this pace we should reach more than 1 million accounts before the summer starts.
It will also increase to demand for Steem and SBD, which is also not bad.
So, to you all. Lets give these new accounts a warm welcome!
If each of us would welcome a new Steemian, it will make this community even better.

Yes. But not just a warm welcome. Everyone need daily, constant support.
Steemit needs a real comunity. A real, caring, community. Honest interactions. Honest comments.
That is what would make this community and the whole Steemit better.
What am I talking about?
I am on Steemit since 2017 May 17. I also received a warm welcome from the community, but after that less and less people cared about my posts, while I upvoted and resteemed the posts from various, a great number of Steemians.
Only a small number of people noticed me. Nowadays less than 10 people cares about my posts in general. To be honest, the number of people, who really cares about my posts is closer to 5-6 or even less, while I currently have 600 followers. This ratio is not good at all.
I am replying to the comments I receive, I often upvote their comments and even their posts. Sometimes I make comments on other people's posts, when I find the post and/or the author (and/or something about the author) interesting and/or anything similar and I think I can write a meaningful comment under the post. I upvoted and resteemed a lot of posts on a daily basis for long months and I am still doing it sometimes, however with less intensity.
But despite all of this, no matter how much time of work (often more than a hour) I put into my posts, no matter what I write about in my posts or what I post, almost no one cares about my posts nowadays.
The lack of community and the number of (a lot of) selfish people is the biggest downside of Steemit.
You can clearly see this also even under this post. People upvoting their own few words comments, people posting two words comments, which showing that they don't really cares about the post or the author, they only want attention. They are doing it for their own good.
But I still believe in Steemit, after 299 days of trying.
Hopefully this (the great increase in the number of accounts) will also change the downtrend to uptrend in the price of Steem. But as I said above, everyone needs daily, constant support. What more important is the fact that this site needs a real community. A real, caring, community. Honest interactions. Honest comments. Probably that would surely change the downtrend to uptrend. Even in the long run.
But if no one will care about their posts, they will have bad opinion about Steemit and they will stop using Steemit.
Thank you for reading!
Enjoy Steemit!
Have a nice day!

Please do not forget that, for lack of aliens or "perfect men" Steemit is populated with mere humans. As much as we would like it to be a perfect garden with beautiful people, since there is no working selection mechanism, you'll basically see the same sad patterns from the real worl being reproduced here.
The great potential of Steemit is to introduce some kind of meaningful selection by encouraging desirable behaviours and discouraging predatory behaviours.
If someone thinks about it it's a good first step. If someone is working on something it will take time to implement and probably a few hard forks before it's done about right. But there remains potential.
However if nothing is being done in this direction, we might very well experience the opposite: as more and more people join the platform, we'll see "reversion to the mean" and Steemit will ressemble EVEN MORE than today the real world, warts and all

Hi Xplosive,
Thanks for your honest reply. You are correct!
I do share your feeling. Lots of people here are in it for the money. Look for instance at the posts from Haejin. He gets lots of upvotes but just for curation. A lot of people do think that it is a quick rich sheme, but it is not.
According to me it all depends on how your group of followers has been built. I'm not going to say that the points below reflect on your situation, because I don't know you so I cannot and don't want to judge you.
Suppose an account has 1000 followers, but 99% of these followers are follow-you-follow-me followers, than your group of followers is meaningless. It is just there to brag about with your friends.
Another account has only 100 followers but most of them are people who voluntarily decided to follow the account. This can be based on shared interest, or the topics the authors writes about.
Who do you think will have more chance on interaction?
Correct the second one.
I did devote one of my best posts about it, but it went unnoticed :( Just like in your case, only a handful of people are interested in my posts. But that is where I do get my motivation from.
I'm not going to write that I'm not here for the money, cause the money part probably made me to take the plunge. But I can honestly say that I do appreciate a comment or discussion much more than an upvote.
I did take a look at yout profile and did notice that it is hard to see, what your passion is. I do see a lot of resteems. I only resteem if a post really touches me. Please don't see this a criticism but as a genuine tip about how I see Steemit. Start writing something down about yourself about your passions and you will get noticed. Like this reply. It was genuine and out of the hart and it did get noticed.
Don't forget that Steemit is a reflection of the society, where we also have a lot of selfish people.
Although I'm running out of voting power, I will upvote you to show you that there are lots of good and genuine people here on steemit.
Once again, thx for your honest reply. Appreciate it a lot!
Keep he faith,
Peter

There is nothing wrong with a criticism as long as it's constructive, useful, helpful.
But I take that as a genuine tip as you said and I will change my habits about the resteems.
Also thank you for mentioning my passion. It's more like a lifestyle. It's called "amateur radio" or "ham radio".
I don't know, if you know it, I also don't know, if you ever heard about it for it's not a very popular hobby.
I wrote a few posts about it. The first post about it was successful, but the rest are not. Just like my blogging on Steemit in general. Not much people cares about it.
By the way I honestly think that most of the people here are mostly cares about and interested in more known hobbies, such as gaming, but I will try to write more about amateur radio in the future and I hope that I will find a community, which genuinely interested about my posts.

I waited a good two weeks to finally receive approval to login yesterday. I’ve done nothing but read blogs and comments, with this being my very first response to anyone. I find myself comparing your experience with what I’ve witnessed with my Instagram account. Ever so often, I spend time unfollowing all the ones who NEVER interact. I only reciprocate with a follow if I sincerely like their post and do not initiate the follow without liking several of their post in advance. It’s going to take me awhile to learn my way around Steemit, but comments like yours is both educational and encouraging as I have experienced similarities in other platforms and now know to expect much the same here. Thanks for the warm welcome and support.

I would like people to read my posts but it 's not that big of a deal. As long as I can post truth, I am happy. Keep posting and the goodness of your heart will shine through the clouds of selfishness. May Godd keep you blessed.
