Some Suggested New Features for Steemit

I have been doing some thinking lately regarding Steemit, and I would like to share some suggestions for the developers for new features that would improve the functionality and ease of use for Steemit. Note, I realize there are some off-site tools (like Steemd and others) that might mimic some of the suggested features below. For the purposes of this post, I am referring to organic features available on Steemit itself without leaving the site.

  1. A way to sort one's list of followers. It would be nice to quickly check for new followers, but currently that does not appear to be a way of seeing which followers are new. They are simply listed in alphabetical order, and once your list of followers gets past a few dozen, it's hard to tell which ones are recent. Knowing which followers are new would make it easier to follow them back.

  2. Groups. I would like to see groups here, like on other social media sites. Hashtag searches are useful for finding topical information, but there is no centralized place to discuss a certain topic. Posts appear to be sorted by hashtag only and that makes them subject to dilution with non-relevant posts (through tag spamming) or being "buried" by new posts in the feed. Having groups would give users a better way to seek out and find relevant material.

  3. Site search. The current site search leaves a lot to be desired. It's a bare bones affair that is not very polished compared to the rest of Steemit. Revamping the search would make it easier to find relevant information.

  4. A suggestion box or feedback group - a centralized place where posts like this can be seen directly by the developers and people who work for Steemit. Currently, I find it difficult to discern who exactly works for Steemit and who to contact regarding technical issues, new user help, or suggestions like this post.

  5. Private messages. A built-in PM function would be nice. Not everyone wants to use Discord or chat.

  6. Bookmarks or favorites. A way to save posts for future viewing or reference would be great. If I want to find an old post, I currently have to use the site search function (which is not that good).

That's it off the top of my head.

Thanks for listening. :)

I'd like to personalize the All tags box on the left hand side of the main page. I never use those tags and could really use a quicker link to my favourite ones.

Me too. Populate it with tags I find interesting.
