This week I talk about the STEEMIT platform and the ability to gain and retain new users. I talk about the learning curve for new users and how the platform will have to eventually overcome the need to talk so much about crypto currency. New users are looking for new social media platforms to replace their current or to use in conjunction with their existing. With that said I believe that crypto currency and redundant STEEMIT talk actually hurts the platform's ability to gain and keep new users. While there are some experts that have a niche in this subject matter, I believe it becomes excessive when everyone seems to be only able to talk about crypto. Even I have been guilty of doing this at first.

Solid points. I actually went to a Steemit meetup recently and met 3 people who didn't know what cryptocurrency really was, and one that had never even heard of Bitcoin!
I mostly write about crypto these days because that seems to be where the market is. Crypto articles seem to do better than most, because the big whales are into crypto, not dog pictures.
My little old lady from above who didn't know what Bitcoin was, even if you wrote posts she likes, can't reward you. She's not your market if you want to make rewards, and you have to play to your market.
The problem is by far my most successful series was my crypto-taxation series. I used to write a couple of series on movie and music reviews but found that most of them got totally ignored (I linked you my Jurassic 5 one that took a few hours to make 7 cents).
I need to get back to my non-crypto topic list soon. =/
Tough, but realistic words about not everyone belonging on Steemit. You gotta have some talent here. That was never required for Facebook.
PS - If you're doing crypto next podcast, can you look at Music coin? I know nothing about it but would like your opinion.
PPS - Played poker with slickhustler last night!

Consider it done. That next episode will be dedicated to you and a few others, as I've also heard about a few coins meant to change the way artists are rewarded...lol. He told me. That's my crazy homeboy...smh Been knowing each other for almost 18 years. We're super competitive. As you can see, he's trying to level up. I tell him all the time...if it wasn't for friends like Lex, and a few others that just constantly show me support and good advice, I couldn't do it. I'm a pretty good poker player myself. Gotta hit up lucksacks soon. Been working man. Told you I just jumped back into my Java programming....sheesh....pain in the ass but it's necessary for my future.

Programming is certainly a good skill to have going forward.
I threw up a post on Musicoin after my curiosity got the best of me and I found a few time-sensitive reasons to consider buying. You might want to check out my post on it.

You inspired me to go break my streak of crypto articles, so at least I got one layman's-appropriate article out there.
Back on topic, I want to call your attention to this post:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@brunotreves/the-truly-most-lucrative-topics-on-steemit-proven-by-data-analysis
It's two months old now but I think it will shed some light on the problem you are also pointing out.
It's a little outdated, but I bet mostly still correct. I use it to try and figure out the appropriate tags for some articles.
I only pasted the one sorted by rewards, and you'll need to open it in a new tab or download it to view it.

Dope I'll check this out...You're still leveling up like a super saiyan I see. lol. And for the record, you're one of few people that know what the hell you're talking about. I think you really break things down and pick appropriate subject matters encircling steemit and crypto currencies in general to talk about. The problem is...everyone thinks they are Lexiconical, which they are not! You also break away and talk about other shit. The thing is, I would have said the same thing if everyone on Steemit was a podcaster. We cannot saturate this platform to one thing is what I am saying. We need new Steemit users...they in my opinion...are really the bread and butter of this site. There is only so much that the money will go around. My dream...and I see it...is Steemit to have over 3 million people as users. I mean..it's absolutely possible. But we have to show that Steemit is like Facebook if not better...is like Twitter...if not better...is like Instagram...if not better. This means we have to as a community on "this" platform set the diversity of our content.

You must be talking about me. I use Steemit because it is a super platform where posting is quick and relatively simple :I could even copy and paste HTML pages from my other blogs and just clean up certain codes not allowed on here, such as 'span style'. I can share my posts easily on other social networks, and as for twitter, the bonus is that it also shows the image, instead of just the link, as for most other sites.
I am a artist and have a wide range of interest, but with my posts I don't play to the 'big whales' as you call them. I am mostly interested in connecting with other artists. Not in it for the money.

Oh no...No absolutely. I was generalising. It was directed to the whole community, even myself. I was just inspiring current users that in order for us to continue gaining new members, we must make Steemit appear as any other social media platform. That includes subject matter. So no...I don't even know you my friend. I'm on here to inspire people not put anyone down. If the podcast made you think about things differently, then I've done my job.

I'm still know steel is also a part of blockchain where we can have advancement than other multi media. I just keep on posting domtind really about it crypto in steel all I do is do what I know I can contribute in the community. Yep, they do talking and posting about crypto and it's informative for us who doesn't exactly know but because of it also we learn and gain knowledge of what was "in" and what was happening around the web. Steem on and God bless! :)

Hi! I found this post @kid4life. You are so right. If I see that a user posts nothing but crypto currency, I won't follow them. There are so many people talking about that very subject.
