Call it vanity if you will but I've only been on Steemit for a month and I rarely see any original posts. I've even followed the resteems back to the source only to find that the original post was copied and pasted from a website with references or a link to the actual article. Either that or they use bots to upvote themselves.
Am I missing something? I understand everyone wants to get paid but it seems to me originality is much more valuable in the long run. I'm trying to follow in the footsteps of the whales like @papa-pepper and show you who I really am, my opinions, and my story.
I'm proud of who I am and you should be proud of you too! I'd love to have some more original people to follow Steemians and hope I start getting well thought out comments instead of "good post". I love the support but I also love actual debate or thought out comments. This community is capable of so much more!
There are good content creators on steemit but they are hard to find. The majority of users only post garbage, and most comments are simply begging for follows.
This is compounded by the limited features of steemit as a website. It's just not easy to sift through all the shit.
That being said, if you spend the time looking at categories that interest you, you will find good content, and usually someone that posts one quality article has posted many.
I find that curating my own followed list almost daily makes my feed better and better. And I try to use some voting power to kill garbage posters when I can.

That's cool right now I'm just following as many people so I can get to know as many different people and figure out whether or not I want to keep following them or unfollow them . I don't know how this whole getting paid thing works, all I know is I'm meeting some great people and if they want to pay me for that then by all means

Yeah I'm not sure exactly where it comes from but I transferred some to my trading account and bought some Neo coin. You get paid more when people with more steem power upvote your stuff

I've been on here less than a month and made probably about 25ish. People that find their niche do well and hit up to 60k in the first year. Don't underestimate Steem Power. It takes two years to power it down but I wouldn't. You get noticed more with the more Steem Power you have

Don't be afraid to flag abusers. I have recently been flagging the hell outta obvious spam accounts. You can also report to steemcleaners.link drop on steem chat.
Click pinned messages.
Top message is the form to fill out to report any sort of spamming or tomfoolery.
