When I introduced Steemit to my Friends - Being nice to people is a big sin these days!steemCreated with Sketch.

Yesterday, I introduced Steemit to my friends who are currently doing jobs in different companies, all fed up with their 9-9 job slavery. I asked them to join Steemit, invest their time and they will be rewarded for their efforts after six or seven months, they were like!

So one of them asked a question "How is it possible to make money just by posting, commenting and upvoting?"

I explained the blockchain technology as much as I knew, I could read his face expressions so I already knew that he wasn't much impressed with my speech and his reaction was!

Another friend asked "So how much you have earned so far?"

Explained again that this is not something that will make you rich over night, it takes time and once it's going, it will have a huge impact in our lives as far as the money is concerned.

And the third friend commenting sarcastically on my explanation

"Well, keep doing what you want, I know what you will get from this silly effort."

This wasn't expected from them, may be I'm unemployed and my words have less influence these days. So after this discussion, I invented two mathematical equations

Suggestion of a Poor if correct = no influence = Verdict of people "Wrong"

Suggestion of a rich if incorrect = More influence = Verdict of people "Absolutely correct"

Examples

I see some very good posts of people who write wonderful stuff but they don't earn too much, people don't want to upvote and reward them for their efforts just because they aren't a big Whale or Dolphin. On the other hand, there are some people who are rich, bought some Steems, didn't put too much effort in the start, eventually got a very strong influence and in return, get very good rewards for their crap material.

So this is life and how it works, your words have no power if you have no money and vice versa. For two minutes, I thought if I was really wasting my time on Steemit and started thinking of doing something else but then a word came in my mind "Consistency". Do what you love with consistency and you will be rewarded.

So now, I am like!

As described, it takes time to build a following etc. I think you need to be prepared to invest time and effort into creating good content, often for little or no rewards, until such time as you have built up a base of individuals who like your work and reward it with upvotes etc. Unless you have a following on another platform you can bring with you, this will take time.

Yup, doing the same friend.

I guess it will be interesting to follow. Good luck.

The Internet, cryptocurrencies and now blockchain technologies have always exposed us. I just posted about bitcoin exposing our doubts and fears!. Have look. Same situation here with your friends. I know the feel because I have talked to so many people.

Omg, those currencies...
ilyastarar, we need more people like you on this channel.
Btw. you can find out about yourself at this terminal, I found you based on what the machine thinks I like about you, haha.

Will look that.
Do you have any idea about Delegated SP Leasing launched by @minnowbooster? I thought that we should invest in this thing to get more SP. But not sure if the steem we will be sending be returned to us by them or not. I was about to text you on Facebook to discuss this.

The Steem invested in @minnowbooster is not refundable. You get SP delegated for a week. You have to maximize benefit of having more SP.

Hmmm, then I'll not be using that. I was thinking of investing PKR 100,000 :D

It would have been better to buy Steem worth 100,000 (almost 900-950 Steem) when Steem was too low and power up. Steem can go lower than $1 if the market goes down. Buying Steem would be wiser.

Hmmm, thinking about it @ilyastarar, thanks for your insights.
You have a great analytical skills, I must say!

Thanks a lot.

Can you please guide me how can I buy Steem? Like do I have to first buy BTC and then buy them on Block trades?
Also if you know any authentic website to buy BTC via credit card.

That's worth a big tutorial because details aren't possible here. Yes, BTC is necessary. Blocktrades is one option. Poloniex, Bittrex are others.

UrduBit is our local source of BTC. It's better than LocalBitcoins in price comparison. I used Cex.io (reliable but not cheap). Coinbase is good but doesn't work here. Local exchangers can be found on Facebook.

Procedure

  1. Buy BTC and send them to Bittrex/Poloniex/Blocktrades.
  2. Buy Steem from BTC markets there.
  3. Send Steem to Steemit Account.
  4. Power Up.

Thanks a lot and please write a post on this as well for Pakistanis, buying BTC from a credit card is looking bit shaky.

Thanks for your reply, you saved my money.

Most welcome

Let me know what you think about it.

I am having the same problem... I get so shocked when i speak to people who uses facebook and instagram a loooot. And, they are not interested in steemit at all. But, I am sure this is goin to repay me. If anything I will learn english :)
See ya! "Consistency" is going to be a word for today :)

I don't think it is a waste of time, especially if you are currently unemployed. There is a real time consideration, though, and you have to be willing to accept the fact that earnings might not come, but I think that, with consistency and quality content, SOME will come. It likely will not be what we all hope, but developing a network of people who listen to and support you is part of the prize as well.

Yup, not giving up!

How much would someone have to spend on steem power to 'buy' influence? Are w talking a few hundred or a few thousand?

Thousands bro, thousands.
People I know had bought 30000, 50000, 20000 Steem and then converted them to Steem power.

I have under 15,000 and my upvote at 100% is around $6.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

I'm still not quite up on how steem power works though. Doesn't it all come back to you over time?

It depends on your rewards, people like us, who can't buy Steem can only power up with the help of rewards.
Let me give you an example, suppose I earn $100 for this post, I will get a total reward of $75 as $25 would be given to curators.
Then $75 award would be divided into two parts, 50% goes to Steem Dollars and 50% to your steem power.
For us, it is better to just get the steem power and convert our SBD into steem power.

Ok cool, that's what I've been doing. But pure sent steem power eventually diminish?

"pure steem power?" means

Sorry.. Some pretty heavy auto correct typos in there. Doesn't steem power eventually diminish is what I meant.
I've been having trouble finding up to date info on how it works.

Nope, it stays in our account, however, the delegated steem power which you can see in brackets would be taken back, don't know when.

Don't try to convince people. Get to work and the rewards will come. Follow, Comment, Resteem, Engage, Share and Create. Do this daily and it is amazing how your luck will improve.

Thank you so much @hilarski for taking out your time and commenting on my post, it's an honor and sure will be doing the same from now onwards.
