I came to this platform because of Jeff Berwick on LNR Youtube video. He recommended the Duolingo free online game for learning languages which was great. I hope it puts Rosetta Stone out of business (which you I recommend you save your money by the way). However, I have come to realize that this is a greed driven social media platform, where people are trying to make money posting rehash internet noise and bland videos online. Where is the open source? Not even a tag category. Where are the original creations? Where is the upload button for pictures and videos you create yourself? Doesn't exist. I don't really think Steemit is a scam, I think it is a pipedream for the delusional app fiends and social media addicts. I looked through these posts, and I can find similar content on other places with less hassle and more options. I am not satisfied with this, I don't think this is for me. Don't worry about upvoting this post, I won't worry with it. Will some one out their do a steemit for open source content (not just games and software, but engineering, art, videos, writing, music and such) that rewards people with a crypto currency that makes their content better...lets say like playing more of a game lets you level up your character? No? Do the money stuff afterwards, start up with a genuine content and reward original ideas, not rehash facebook style ego driven/self important posts. I am really disappointed that this is how good ideas end up, tied to the dollar. Its gonna crash people, get your sh!t together. Productivity is what drives and economy, not opinions. Damn it!
Steemit is NOT what I thought it was

I understand your frustration as I have been trying to get my head around steemit myself. My personal opinion is that, at present, there is a lot of hype going around about making money here and also disillusion surrounding the power whales have.
steemit is still in it's beta phase. steemit needs to become a platform that people enjoy using for no other reason other than they just enjoy being here. People use facebook because they enjoy using it. They put up with it's crap because it's good point outweigh its bad.
When people move over to steemit and like using it whether they get paid for it or not. steemit will really take off. That's the challenge, moving from hype to actual utility.
I would encourage you stay and try to get something for yourself out of this new online experience.
Best of luck

I agree with @skum, this is beta software. Full featured applications like you and the rest of us are wanting take time. I expect all of the features we all want will be added to Steemit over time. Early adopters overlook the missing features because they believe in the platform and want to see it succeed.
