Let's say you have $1000 Steem Power
Your Upvote at 100% weight is worth $0.35
Basically you have 10 upvotes a day at 100% weight
That is $3.50 a day
Let's say that for the sake of this calculation you will maintain 1000 steem power for the course of the whole year
Steem price doesn't change... Etc
So you will be giving you every day $3.50 for 365 days
That is about 800steem,,,, Wow
But you can get double or more if you have 1000 steem power and you Power up every day your 10 upvotes at 100%, weight
Let's say you have upvoted yourself for 6 months
Now you upvote is worth about $5,50 because you have powered up everything
Quite a good investment idea
But I honestly don't see this upvote yourself a thing that will last forever
Imagine if @Jerrybanfield would upvote himself like that
I don't think anyone would look at you upvoting yourself if your upvote is worth $0.01 or $1
But my imagination takes me to those who have huge power ups like 100.000 steem up
This is heaven for them
I don't complain
Everyone that has invested in Steemit deserves the right to use the benefits of it
I somehow believe it's better to upvote others too because otherwise steemit won't make it
If no one is upvoting you anymore, what do you do
You leave and find a better place right
I'd say that some extra rewards should be given to those that use their upvotes to upvotes in the right manner
To give Minnows a better chance
This Article is not done to encourage people to upvote themselves!
Is to ask for a better reward for those that upvote others!!!

Thank you for reading
Keep it up
Upvote and follow if you like it
Have a lovely time ⌚
Your calculations are not entirely accurate... or lets rather say, they are true assuming lots of things. For example, that STEEM price does not change, peoples weight on each time you vote is the same, you SP does not changes and your voting power is always 100% when you vote (which is very hard do achieve).
But well put view of the monetary system.

The calculation itself was done to show that you can double the amount of Steem power you have more or less
And it was done as mentioned to ask for a better rewards for those that upvote others

I think a better way would be for the upvoting to be fully understood. Since simplifying it would likely be very hard without causing collateral damages. But I agree that sometimes it's hard (even for me) to understand at first sight (without checking stuff on the blockchain) if my vote will influence how much I want.
Maybe instead of having something like a slide bar, it would be more intuitive to put something like a prediction... saying, how much value of your maximum value (estimated 24/7) you would like to put, instead of the value in form of percentage.
Ok... time to request for an enhancement to steemit (anyone can do it). This was actually great discussion and made it's point to improve. Be right back...
EDIT: Done! Here is the request.

Well, upvoting comments has the same meaning as posts for me. With one difference. You may wish to upvote posts to bring the post to top, or to express that the comment is the most important one.

People who vote others have "extra rewards". They receive curation reward.

Something should be done to promote upvoting the Minnows
And that's because Steemit needs more users

This defeats the purpose of upvoting something that you like. Do you think?
A member may like someone's reply but not upvote it because they are upvoting themselves. This gives me no incentive to upvote their reply since they already did.
