I'm still new here on steemit, and as soon as I joined steemit I noticed abundance of porn gifs and videos being spammed 24-7. Why is that even a thing over here? I guess it's allowed and people want to earn easy money on random horny men.
But there is abundance of porn sites at witch you can earn much more money. Those sites are aimed at people looking for actual porn, and thus certainly getting more traffic. Porn on steemit is just an eyesore on this growing platform, and I think nobody would miss if this content were to be removed from this site. Those gifs did not, and will not make this platform a better place.
And yes, you can disable “NSFW” posts, but I'm a kind of person that likes to see everything posted at the moment. NSFW does not imply porn, it could be anything related to injury, harassment, and other gruesome shit. But porn has no place here!
I'm speaking on gifs/videos downloaded from porn sites and reposted for quick buck. To be honest I have no ill will against people that write fantasy stories or blog posts containing adult content.

I think the answer is pretty simple:
Until steemit creates its own form of sexual/porn consumption that isn't annoying, random horny men who are on here will go to the porn that currently exists, in whatever form.
I'm not for it. I've seen it and it's shit.
But I will not censor it, nor can we.
I just think trying to fend it off is a dead horse in the water.
