I believe we have to find a balance between the crowd and solitude.
We are social creatures, so sometimes we want or need some human interaction. But we are also individuals, and to spend time away from the crowd, or even away from our small group of friends, is very important. (Well, important to some of us... :-))
Also, I've found that, since I'm comfortable with myself and my good friends, I no longer feel the need to widening the scope of my relationships.
If I meet a new friend, great! If I don't meet any new friends for a month or a year or more, great!
