Has anyone else received this message recently in their wallet from carlobelgado?
As soon as I saw this I was feeling a little suspicious...
Surely someone with 9000 followers wouldn't be resteeming everyones posts and charging 4SBD a pop...
Then when I went to look at their page I realised they they were following a huge number of people... over 32000, so of course when you follow 32000 and with the natural phenomenon of the follow-for-follow I can see how this person has built up so many followers.
I thought... surely no one is going to actually send this guy 4SBD to resteem their posts? There is no way that they will make that 4SBD back in any kind of extra up votes earned through being on his page, or recieve bigger numbers of followers from him resteeming their post.
But I am surprised to see that people actually are sending this guy 4SBD per resteem!I feel kind of bad for those people. I am pretty sure this guy knows that this is a bad deal for the people who's posts he is resteeming, for him to be winning in this situation, his fellow steemians have to be loosing out... 4SBD at a time.
What would be a better way to invest 4SBD than paying this guy for a resteem?
Send 1 SBD to @randowhale to get an increase in the potential payout for your post.
Get set up with Minnow Support! It costs like 0.002 Steem and you can use it every 12 hours without having to pay again after you register
Just forget about the bots altogether! You can increase exposure for your posts by just interacting with others and being a part of this community!! Get in SteemitChat or Discordia and find people you share similar interests with!
We shouldn't be taking advantage of one another and charging our fellow Steemians for resteems when we know they won't get their 4SBD worth... we should be putting some positive vibes out there in to the community.
This is a re-post of my answer to your question in the comment section of my post:
@carlobelgado’s resteem of my post increased the number of “Views” by 50% and doubled the number of “Likes” that it had previously received. Not bad if your goal is to disseminate and try and reach a larger audience. I’d say that it brought this particular post the same exposure that the promotion of $20 brought, although the promotion continues to run it course still. That having been said, as a believer in organic growth, I wouldn’t recommend abusing the service. This is the first post I’ve ever promoted and I only did so because I’m passionate about the need to clean crypto up. Also, as I mentioned in my reply to Carlo, I think he should also be more selective so as to further add value to what he’s resteeming. In short, going by the limited metrics cited, I think it was well worth it, but this is obviously dependent on other, more subjective factors like the value of the post to begin with, the frequency with which you use the service (as I said before, abuse would not be recommended as it could backfire in the long run), etc.
Hope this helps, and thanks for asking.
Something not mentioned in my original reply and relating to your post here, my intent was not monetarily related in any way and I was only interested in greater diffusion, and I totally agree that financial gain is not the best of reasons to pay for a resteem.
Also, thanks for the randowhale and Minnow Support mentions – I often use the former and will register for the latter now!
Finally, on what you said here:
You can increase exposure for your posts by just interacting with others and being a part of this community!! Get in SteemitChat or Discordia and find people you share similar interests with!
A big thumbs up on that! That’s exactly how I feel. Organic growth is absolutely the best long term strategy for any endeavor, whether it be here on Steemit, or anywhere else in life!
thanks so much for your in depth response!! I am glad to hear that you don't personally regret sending the SBD to Carlo and feel that it did give your post more exposure in some ways :)
Ah well you know there will always be a few snakes looking around to take what someone worked hard for. I seriously am not sure why anyone would give someone 4SBD for a resteem.
I believe working hard and creating quality posts is the best way to get noticed, also being an active user and commenting on others post is the best way to get exposure. Steemit chat is good to connect with others also.
Actually I can see people paying 4SBD for a resteem, they are trying to take the shortcut, but shortcuts are short lived. Build a following, create good content and support others with comments, ideas and help. In the end you will get your reward with having people that are interested in you and the things you have to say!
Hey @grizzlyadam4201 Yeah totally agree.
Yeah definitely creating good posts is the way to get noticed and just generally interacting with other people on here. But I get that sometimes people work really hard on their steemit blogs and feel disheartened when they don't progress as fast as others, I imagine those are some of the people paying him 4SBD for a resteem in the hope of more people seeing their posts, so I do feel bad for them :( haha but definitely you are right in the 'shortcuts are short lived' especially in this case :)
I'm new to steemit, today i got the same thing and took up the offer for 1 SBD just to see if this work , i only make back a few cents so for so i wouldn't advise any one to send these people anything , i'm still watching it, the guy have 5000 followers and following about 34 000 people , thanks for the share though
thanks for sharing your experience @youngjerv I think this guy is taking advantage of people like yourself who may be new here to Steemit!!
Sorry that happened, at least in your case you only lost 1SBD! But welcome to Steemit, I hope you do have fun here :)
Very happy to do so because we have to look out for a fellow steemian, and yeah i would'nt send it if was more than 1 SBD .he did sent me back a small amount of SBD something like 0.003 and i got a few upvote but i did lost a few cents doing this
I consider this guy a spammer/scammer. I had to mute him because of his nonsense.
Resteeming to a bunch of follow4follow is as close as you can get to scamming without technically scamming. It's distasteful and I don't like that he profits from it.
yeah absolutely.... it's so clever because its like technically he is not doing anything wrong... and technically he does have 9000 followers (even though its only cuz he's following 32000)
whoever it is has done a clever job of doing something they can profit from but not get in trouble for, and you are right its super distasteful!!
Rip off. He's following 32K+ people and less than 30% are following him back. I got a message from him too in my wallet. What's worse is that he's used a plagiarized tool to message people. I don't think he's plagiarized my tool though. Someone else has and I wrote a post about it. Upvoted and RESTEEMED...
If your content is good, people will upvote and resteem without you begging for it!
One suggestion: I would change the header/feature image of this post to Fry instead of your screenshot!
Heh. I just did a bit of research through my programming skills to find out how many of his followers have voted in the past 48 hours, and I found out that more than 50% of them haven't! It even gets worse when it comes to commenting. 6033 of his followers haven't posted or commented in the past 48 hours... But this is what happens with follow-for-follow. You get a bunch of dead followers basically who will either unfollow you or abandon their account later on...
Yeah for sure!!! So interesting that you managed to find those things out though about all the dead followers.
that really sucks that someone plagiarised your tool!!!! how crazy!
Yeah! Her sister just used my TIPPER to announce that RESTEEMS will now be only $2 SBD. Looks like she's sending this message to almost 5000 of her followers!
I received this message from @joanaltres. You can check my wallet for proof.
My little brother, @carlobelgado is selling resteems to over 9000 followers for only 4 SBD. He isn't resteeming junk and if I like the post myself, then I'll resteem it as well at a later time to help give the posts a boost. You can order by sending 4 SBD to @carlobelgado and include the link to the post you want resteemed and he will resteem it. Please keep in mind that the results of a resteem depends more on your post quality and how interesting it is than it does the resteem itself. A resteem is simply an opportunity to have your post discovered by more people. Have a great day! (If you are receiving this message for the second time, I apologize. You won't receive this same message again).
yes I have seen people receiving messages from @joanaltres as well.... I assume both accounts are run by the same person, or maybe they really are 'brothers' but yeah... how strange

I totally knew this kind a things will appear eventually, this is a really new platform, where everyone is trying to get some profits in any posible way.
Scams are inevitable on this growing way, we just need to be open eyed, and try to warn other users, great post.
This guy works, and his sister too. I dont use voting bots much except for @discordia Which gave me more returns than Rando or Booster.
In just 5 days, I received around 150 new followers and my the next day got and extra $40 on my A.I. post and another $12 on my GIF visual post. Perhaps I got lucky with the $, but for sure using Delgado, one will get more active followers.
I just got that message this morning, and then another one from a woman claiming to be his sister. I was uncomfortable, to say the least--seems like the minute I start making a little bit of money, as a newbie here, these folks popped up on my blog. Too much of a coincidence. They're not getting anything from me.
I have a question, though. How does one go about sending SBD to anyone? I can't seem to find the process.
Yeah absolutely, you are right to stay away from it.
You click the arrow next the amount on your steem dollars in your wallet, and the first option is transfer... you put in the name of the person you want to send to and the amount :)
I got one of these memos in my wallet as well. It was a bit different and cheaper, but mentioned this same user. I'll include it below:
Resteeming Service Update: From this point forward all resteems will cost only $2 starting now. You can order a resteem to over 9000 followers for your post by sending 2 SBD (Steem Dollars) and the link to your post to @carlobelgado. The result you get depends on your post quality and how interesting it is to people. Resteems are just like retweets on Twitter - it puts your post in front of more eyeballs but it doesn't guarantee people will click on it to read it and upvote it. More money is only one of the possible benefits from a resteem. You could also gain more followers who support your efforts on Steemit long term. Hopefully, this will help some of you gain more exposure on this great platform where it is very hard these days to attract views for your posts. To order a resteem for your post, send 2 SBD and the link to your post to @carlobelgado, and he will resteem it. Best wishes!
I just kinda disregarded it.
I'll stick to putting the work in. It has started to result is great returns and I'm happy with that.
yeah absolutely.... hard work will get your posts seen :) no need to be sending 4 or even 2 dollars to anyone for a resteem :)
glad to hear that you are doing well without this kind of stuff :)
The person is not scamming anyone. They do have 9000 followers. If they are not bots/dummy accounts , while it may not be profitable or you may not cover the 4 sbd in with a resteem from the promoter, it mzy give your post exposure to a wider audience. The promoter did not promise that you will be profitable in any way. You are simply paying for a resteem which in reality does better than promoted posts.
On the other hand, it is important to be cautious of such accounts.
They do have 9000 followers because they are following 32000 people.... thats not a good ratio. over 6000 of their followers are 'dead followers' so just accounts that have been abandoned. I don't think the reality is that those resteems are doing better than promoted posts... I see a lot of them making around $1-$2... but hey let me know if you try it and make $4 back :)
Also... you don't get such a bad reputation of 13 on Steemit without doing something wrong.... so he's not exactly a trustworthy person.
Hmm, ok. I haven't gone into the stats. If I were to try it, it wouldn't be to back $4 but to get more exposure. In that case, I would have to be promoting something. But, according to you said based on rep and dead accounts, i'd say, be cautious .. But really, I won't be expecting to retain $4 from one resteem from that guy. It isn't a bad idea though. Would be nice if someone could have done this genuinely.
0.001 steem vs 4 sbd; good ROI.
With his Resteem he proudly replies also ... Upvoted. An upvote that is worth nothing. A Scam from a little Scum-bag if you ask me.
