What it Means To Be Human

I've been thinking a lot lately about who I am at the end of the day, and why I am the way that Iam. These questions are fundamental questions that we all struggle with at humans. They're the questions that keep some of up at night, and that drive us to pursue ourselves. Often times I find them to be kind of cliché

Why cliché? Because we all ask them, and we don't only ask ourselves these questions we ask others as well. I ask people "who are you?" "why are you this way?" "who do you want to be?" and typically the responses I get are emotional or apathetic. Sometimes the answers are along the lines of "I am a student with dreams of becoming (insert preferred occupation here)" or "I grew up with parents who pushed me to work hard and develop my talents." or even "I grew up with parents that were too busy to help me with things so I learned to help myself and teach myself". All great and fascinating answers, but each of them only scratch at the surface of what it means to be human.

So, how do we ask others and ourselves the questions that get to the core of our shared humanity? How do we break through the barrier of clichés and dive into the deep end of understanding human life itself. I don't know the answers to these questions and before you turn away from this article I invite you to consider that my curiosity about them drives me to search and seek for greater truths.

My blog will contain many things: How-to articles about my creative pursuits, photographs and videos that tell unique stories, interesting short stories that come from my desire to better understand the art of storytelling, but I think the most important articles that come out of my blog here on Steemit will be those that take on the task of questioning our collective existence.

I have come to find that I am curious and fascinated about the existential and metaphysical parts of all of us. I invite you to join me on my journey and even question things with me. I invite you to challenge my conclusions and in turn I will challenge you.

My largest goal is to become a safe haven for you to ask the deeper questions about why we exist. In turn I hope we can all respect and love each other, that we might admire our shared experiences the way that art enthusiasts are in awe of the masterworks of Van Gogh and Michelangelo.

You are a masterwork of your own making. I firmly believe accepting that is foundational to our journey down this path together.
